Problems with Chieftain Power usage?

Not sure what's going on here...

Bought Chieftain.
Outfitted it as a combat-multirole.
Power usage was a bit above what 6A PP can supply (25.2Mw) with weapons deployed.
Set module priorities to so scoop, SRV bay, cargo-hatch and DC are priority 2 so I am, allegedly, <25.2Mw with weapons deployed and modules disabled.
Launched.
Deployed weapons.
Dead in space.

Eh? [where is it]

Couldn't figure it out in flight so I re-docked in SD.
Sold all the modules that are set to priority 2.
Total power usage now reporting as <25.2Mw.
Re-launched.
Deployed weapons.
Dead in space. Again.

Unless I'm missing something, it seems like there's something screwy going on.

Try core module at 1
Weapons and utilities at 2
Cargo hatch SRVetc at 3

Then try adding the wepoans one by one to priority 1
 
I'm having the same issue. It's not due to mis-management of power priorities, I have everything set so that when I deploy hard points, the RH display power usage bar in the modules section shows that I'm within my 100% power usage - in the same way I've had it on every ship I have flown so far.

Could be an issue with engineered modules from pre-3.0 being read by the system as vanilla but actually drawing more power? I have a few modules that draw excess power beyond their vanilla rating - have you tried your set-up with completely new modules across the fit? I will try that tonight to see if it makes a difference.
 
I can't speak for the chieftain, as I've only played an hour in the new patch, but I did notice screwy power usages, and oddball stats from my pre 3.0 upgraded modules on my Asp Explorer. It seems if modules go over the now intended max's or mins the game doesn't know what to do with it all the time and leads to odd situations.

Ah yeah... I had a similar issue last night. Outfitted the Chief with a L4 OC PP (29MW) and a bunch of lasers etc. All in it was a little over but after setting the priorities I expected to be able to use the weps. But couldn't. Dead as per OP (just the Weps though) 1 & 2 Level Priorities were still active.

Fitted the L5 OC'd PP and forgot about it. But I really though the assignments I made would have done the trick.

I have definitely had problems with ships readings based on modules that were engineered pre 3.0 - the problems disappeared the second I re-engineered them to 3.0 specifications.

So I guess there is a grandfathering bug to report?

I also couldn't buy an SRV to fit a vehicle hanger that was in my module storage. I sold that hanger, bought a new one, and the problem went away. So perhaps there is some form of module "upgrade" process that is not quite right.
 
Tested out the Chieftain yesterday, had similar problems. Used a size 5A powerplant (20.40 MW), put a lot of weapons and modules (most grandfathered, not yet converted to 3.0) in the Chieftain, I suspect the Modules right-side view of power usage doesn't show the correct usage, as putting a SCB as power priority 4 made it appear on the right-hand side of the bar. Still, when I deployed hardpoints, the weapons at priority 3 didn't get power.

So yes, modules aren't being displayed with their correct power usage.
