Professor Alba Tesreau reports that unidentified objects have been seen near Wregoe SC-X b29-2

cool story, now I have to find out the other reference to The Witch, pretty sure there was one
From the logs at the site where they were plugging people into Thargoid scouts, the scientists there referred to the Witch as someone pushing them for results.

At first I suspected Salvation behind the loss of the Alexandria, but since "the Witch" already appears in other Thargoid related logs, he might be innocent after all. That being said (and since I don't know those other logs myself), who is "The Witch" and how can she(?) be involved in both, Azimuth and the loss of the Alexandria? Can she really be this old? This also leads to the question if Salvation is also this old, considering his advanced knowledge about Guardian Tech and the lost Azimuth ships. Reminds me a bit of a Merlin vs. Morgan Le Fay situation from the old sagas (or Stargate  )

From the Black Flight logs the Witch could easily have been an organisation or a title, or even a building (like: "the Pentagon"), rather than an individual. (I'm 22,000 LY away so I don't know if that's still plausibly true of the current logs)

But even if an individual, the Black Flight logs were all post-3300, so they wouldn't personally have needed to be very old to be involved with an organisation which had access to some old Azimuth assets.

It'd be stretching Salvation's claim not to be involved with "modern politics" given what Black Flight got up to, but he could certainly be from that organisation too.

Awesome voice acting.

One day, there'll be something to do at these locations. A hatch to break... some damage to repair... a biopsy to take... a fuel transfer to make... a data transmitter to hack. Not a game changer, but just adds a little bit of flavour.

Although the original Azimuth incidents (the Adamastor and the Hesperus) occurred nearly 200 years ago and the corporation was assumed to have been dissolved, the recently discovered logs from the Black Flight sites indicates that it continued to operate in secret up until at least very recently (and based on the new information, is still operating). The first mentions of The Witch are only a few years old.

I thought the use of signal sources was a nice touch - I went straight past them the first time trying to do it for myself :)

Cheers, much appreciated.

EVA onto the hull in your maverick suit, cut through an emergency panel, take down the automated security drones and shut down the security systems, hack into the main computer and download the data, only to turn around and be faced with an alien life form.

Yeah, would be nice.

Having read the logs, especially the captive's comment in log 5, and looking at the timings ... it seems very plausible that the tech stolen from the Alexandria was then used to attract the Thargoids to Cornsar.

Reviewing the older Black Flight logs there's also a definite similarity in genocidal attitude between Thomas Dorne and Salvation - they may well not be the same person but it's certainly very plausible they're from the same organisation. And it would certainly explain how Salvation has control over a permit-locked system and blatantly already knew where the Hesperus breadcrumbs would eventually lead.

That also fills in the gaps - Tanner and Ram Tah so far haven't found anything obviously wrong. Obviously Salvation is using Guardian tech - he collected a bunch of it in public, after all. There's no smoking gun, just suspicion.

But what if Tanner's raid on Taurus had succeeded ... and found a bunch of Guardian artifacts still in their Alexandria-registered containers? That would have been rather different, and probably more than even he expected to find.

There is the Hind Cooperative in T Tauri - perhaps they could quietly succeed in taking the station where Tanner failed.

Yeah I did appreciate that they were just plain old signal sources, and not something sticking out as abnormal.

Though, as I was churning the possible systems, I did note the different concentrated FSS signals as opposed to normal ones (or freaking FCs)... so when I started inspecting planets, I watched for them resolving automatically which is a sure sign they're of interest.

Speaking of, I really appreciated the 15LY search radius. As opposed to the much larger search radiuses, I felt this was way more manageable as a solo flier. I actually searched the systems instead of just waiting for someone to find it.
