PSA: Remote workshop can’t convert legacy modules

Yea, doesn’t make any sense. I mean other than designing another time pit.

Yeah, I didn't test if it was like this in the beta, because I had access to anything, and didn't really use my own ships. Kinda surprised it didn't get mentioned by people, though, there was a lot going on engineers wise.

Remote workshops as implemented, are by and large a pointless feature as far as i'm concerned.

So, for someone like Palin (you know, the most out of the way engineer) you don't feel that the need to only visit him once and pin Dirty Drives is in any way a benefit over, say, travelling hundreds of Lys every time?

Remote workshops are a great addition. Since the made it so you could pin all grades of a blueprint anyway, it was useless before that point.

Now this issue just needs sorting out and it will be really quite useful.

...Not even mentioning the material traders who enjoy playing hide and seek instead of advertising their business openly.
Maybe it's just me, but I could not find any of them yet. I'm sitting on a heap of G5 mats to trade, but I'd need some G3 garbage to get to G5. I was in hope of being able to finish with at least one module, but thanks to the usual lack of in-game information here I have to be again, googling around in vain...

Not being able to convert legacy mods remotely is indeed strange. But you can just transport all your to be converted mods to the engineer base, should just take ~20-30min.

Should it?! you think?????

I don't think so, it takes way more than that to fly to all the separate engineers, nevermind transfer times for the modules, even finding the modules, then removing them from the ships (gonna need to move the ship to me, or fly to the ship too, mine are ALL OVER The place)

I am pretty confident it would take me a lot more than twenty to thirty minutes to convert all my old modules, just so I can use the remote workshop.

And I don't even have that many engineered ships! I can't imagine the time it might take people who have entire engineered "Fleets"

How... how are you making it twenty to thirty minutes?

Also, why did you link to things about materials traders?!

Calm down, didn't want to offend you... I was just speaking about transfer times, not the overall required time. I totally understand that the current way this is handled is annoying, if you want to convert many modules.

I linked information about material traders as galahad had a question about it.

The problem is not so much the number of modules but the number of ships. I have 11 ships most of them heavily RNGineered and if I wanna use the new engineer services I need to convert them. Of course I can trick stuff with module transfer but that's mostly possible for utility and hardpoints (coz most inner modules have mass/class limitations depending on the ship) and even then it involves a ton of module swapping (+wait times for transfer, etc).

There's really no sense in not providing a way to convert modules easily. They're supposed to "encourage" this for god's sake.

You must be at Engineer base to set a special effect. So you want merge the two tasks into a single one.

I am not a big fan of the remote workshop as is ... (but at least you don't have to travel 300 LY to get a single roll =o )

I know your pain though ... my gunship with its 12 LY is literally making me crying lol

Oh ok. You didn't offend me by the way! I was merely confused, and thought I might have been missing some way to actually do it in that kind of time frame :)

I didn't read the beta notes. I read the release patch notes, which didn't explain any of this.

This is why you also lost the opportunity to say something about how good or bad was the new system going to be back then. It might be a bit late now.

And so... we should have read the fine print users contract?

Me customer, you business.
2.5 million copies sold, you can fix it and save many many people much tedious loading screen time.
It’s a product right, not a religion or political party?

It is a game, but by your attitude seems to be your lifetime job.

You sound like a 12 year old on a Call of Duty forum
