Pulled out of Witch Space

There is some scary stuff I keep hearing from other explorers: bad binary jumps, neutron star issues, blowing up in your parking space due to starting the game in an object. Today, something new and terrifying:

I was in witch space and mid-jump I "crashed". I got a screen saying I had lost a server connection and <poof!> I was out of the game.

Now with all the horror stories of explorers losing all there data from various game malfunctions (and plain stupidity), I was immediately devastated. That's it. My beautiful Asp is a cloud of dust. Really, what else could happen when you come to a complete stop in hyperspace?

Apparently (and thankfully) nothing. I restarted the game and was just floating between stars...which was kinda cool...except for the heart pounding OMG NOOOOOO! moment.

Sounding the fog horn yielded nothing. I was not within a couple Ly of any star.

And no screen shots (of the incident). Sorry you'll just have to take my word. I thought 8500Ly of exploring were gone, so I had other thoughts beside screen caps. After it was over I did take some nice shots floating in REALL Deep space:

Anyone else have this happen?

I had it happen just recently. Same thing, in Witch space, pulled out with instant server disconnect back to main menu.
Except when I logged in it had just popped me back to a system I was in previously (not the one I jumped from but one before that), nothing strange has happened since.

It would be cool and scary if on very rare occasions you could actually be pulled out of witchspace by some mysterious alien entity that sees you passing there... you would find yourself in deep space, be scanned or examined or something. You would receive text comms that would show as gibberish or unknown characters. Then the entity would leave. That would be creepy for sure!

Yep, same here. Even though I'm in the UK and on a reputable ISP, I have been dropping connection mid-jump lately. Doesn't bother me now but when it first happened, I freaked.

Thargoid 1-2 sucker punch:

1 - Callously rip you out of Witchspace
2- Hit you with a DDoS pod

Leaves you flustered, with a quivering lower lip and a trouser malfunction.

Maybe that's what's happening, only the aliens erase your memory of the encounter before dumping you back where you were...

I got pulled a few times yesterday.

You will probably have landed back in the system you left. Naturally when in normal space (as against supercruise) celestial bodies do not show up on your scanner, and no new objects will likely be because you had already scanned the system.

Happened to me once. But instead of dropping in a middle of a nowhere, I've been returned back to the system where I was earlier.

it was a frequent occurrence in Gamma when I headed for the galactic centre. Fortunately it was more of an annoyance, as if it happened quickly in my jump, I would just end up back in the system I was trying to leave before making the jump, although rarely, if the new system failed to load I would actually restart in the destination system.

Others had not been so lucky, though.

Believe we can chalk it up to server instability on the part of FD. This happened a handful of times to me yesterday when I was dropping out of FSD and of course the ensuing heart attack when dreading that my ship continued on into the oven... Luckily, it spawned me back at the previous system each time and I was eventually able to jump out again... After a couple more instances of the crash, of course.
