Pulse Wave Analyzer Hotfix soon, please?

[Mod hat on]

I strongly suggest to calm down and 1) discuss the topic, not the poster and 2) be polite towards each other.

So it's just a little less fit for purpose now than normally?
No, it's more that it doesn't actually do what it says on the tin anymore. Unless it wants to. You can scan the everloving snot out of a cluster of rocks and see nothing, then turn around a bit later and scan them again and then, poof, the rocks that didn't glow before now magically do.

It's not a matter of "not enough glowing rocks", at least not to me, I'm perfectly fine with not tripping over cores every which way I go, it was perfectly ridiculous in the past, it's that you can't trust the results of the scan anymore. It's like pulling the trigger on your beams and them only actually doing damage when they feel like it. Which, to some, would probably be called "a wonderful implementation of a brilliant idea to decrease the DPS of beam lasers."

Want to make insanely valuable minerals/metals more scarce? I'm all in favor of it, it was stupid how easy it was to make money before. Just decrease the frequency of cores/SSDs/high percentage roids. No complaints from me. Make it so that your tools only work half the time?

Sod off. Do one. That's just a lazy excuse for poor coding.

How can anyone with common sense not agree that the actual state of the PWA is bugged?

Like Cmdr MishaTX said, it's not about finding more rocks than before. The scanner - like name says - should scan the asteroid field and show potential core asteroids.

I loved core mining because it was somehow skillful and fun to find the "real core" rocks and then blow them up with the perfect yield.

Now it's more like a lottery to find stuff..

I was just being facetious at how poor this area of Mining 2.0 is... ie: How the PWS is all but pointless except as a "here be the new gameplay features" detector, irrestective of if the asteroid is of interest or not mineral wise.

But yes, the PWS is now broken, and the video highlights it perfectly!

Think I missed the edit where the video was added...

I usually fly a zig-zag pattern when pinging about, and maybe therefore I haven't noticed any flaw in it. But looking at the video, that thing is plain broken :(

Hm. Never had any trouble with core mining actually and I don't use any patterns, maps or sacrifice any goats for finding good rocks.
Sure, takes some time to find cores, but that's just working as intended. As far as I know the Pulse Waver shows you rocks with deposits and that's it.

The point here is that it changed. It changed with the "fix" to the SLF deposit respawn thing in FC Patch 5. And now, after the change, the PWS doesn't work consistently or dependably. There's a cloying RNG or laggy feel to it that is very different than before the "fix".

Sure. But isn't a zig-zag pattern much closer to what you would expect from people searching something rare and precious?
Lol, dude you would even enter a minefield with a device that shows you what you missed instead of what is ahead of you, wouldn't you? 😂

Its broken, or its functionality is daft.

For the record, I expect a device to do what it was intended to do. The fact you can get used to flying backwards while mining is not a reason to actually do it.

I don't think the FC patch 5 has released yet.

Sure, "dude." Getting all emotional and personal without actually addressing the arguments will certainly solve the issue.
Beats me, I dont get it either 🤷‍♂️ You made your point on page one, and on the 11th you're still busy making it. Not sure what you are trying to solve and why, but if I would see what OP sees, I would file a bug report as well, and apparently, looking at 8 pages of confirmations, he is not the only one.

This is how religion works. But science and software development - not really. We can all dance around in circles, singing "fix it, fix it, fix it".
If 10 people would do it, 50 people or 500, which group do you think would be more likely to find a solution?
Does it even matter? Let FDEV sort it out. This thread and the report seemed to be addressed to them.

Sure. But isn't a zig-zag pattern much closer to what you would expect from people searching something rare and precious? At the same time I could say, just flying in a straight line and literally stumble over the valuable stuff is 'broken' if not downright nonsense. I've watched these videos btw and only rarely can reproduce it in my sessions. All I actually agree with is that the PWA is now working differently. But I never had the case, that an asteroid, that at first scan looked grey suddenly went yellow after scanning it from behind.

I'm treated like a liar for that - which is something I really don't take lightly.

Whereas nobody seems to be able (or even tried) to reproduce what I have demonstrated and see in my every day's mining sessions. This is very strange and confusing; as if I would play a different game. Nobody is seriously trying to find the cause for this contradiction, instead I receive all kinds of funny attacks against my person.

I've noticed today that the pulse wave jobbywotsit seems to work clearly in the central window of my t9, and kinda fades out towards the sides, which is good, in my book...nice little tweak there fd!

I don't think the FC patch 5 has released yet.

Sep. 7 Update 3.7.05 (a.k.a. on Xbox at least, "Patch 5"):
"Stopped depleted motherlode asteroids from respawning when a player flies a Ship-Launched Fighter beyond its maximum limit"

The PWA was still fine after the Jul. 27 "Patch 4" release. Icy rings had been nerfed and overlapps adjusted twice, but at least the tools all still worked properly. But after Sep. 7 "Patch 5" the Pulse Wave Analyzer is... well... different...

Hmm so what you said made me buy a Lakon ship to try whether it might be ship related thing. Grabbed a Keelback because why not and guess what, the PWA seemed to work normally. Quite baffled by that, went back to grab the exact same Clipper I used to record the clip in the OP without changing anything.

It certainly feels better to me now, just gave it a short 10 minute try and apart from the premature stop to glow that happens relatively often when moving/turning too fast, the glow in the center seems to be back. It seems to work somewhat now. In case this is not a mere coincidence, thanks FDEV for seemingly patching some server related stuff in the background.

Maybe you guys give it a try as well to confirm whether it is better for you as well?

EDIT: Nevermind, still just as bad, might be coincidence after all, gonna try now whether it makes a difference if I hop into some Lakon ship prior to swapping to the Clipper...

I would be happy if frontier could allocate just one human being to communicate with us concerning issues, bugs, etc... that's the most aggravating part of this whole game. It's as if THEY HONESTLY DONT CARE!!! And they wonder why the servers arent full.....TALK TO US!!!! FOR GODS SAKE!!! WE WANT TO LOVE YOUR GAME BUT YOU GUYS AT FDEV MAKE THAT REALLY HARD TO DO!!!!

I heartily agree with your point, but when you sound like this:

it kinda detracts from your argument.
