Pulse Wave Analyzer Hotfix soon, please?

But if we do it long enough, maybe, just maybe, we'll get through to them.

Even the "bring back the ADS" crowd got an answer from Frontier eventually.

what would they say though..

we will fix it soon™

then it turns out the fix manages to delete core rocks all together.

back to the wall...

...and, have any of you got a good workaround for the time being?
Is it possible that the PWA is only working in external camera mode? That would make firing prospector limpets harder, maybe impossible. Perhaps not so much a workaround as starting point for figuring out the problem?

That's the (quite obvious) logic, yes.
IF the PWA would still work as it did before, which it obviously does not anymore.
The burning question now is, if this new behaviour is a bug or a function change.
In the latter case we would have to adopt. Just imagine for example a two-side scan would be required from now on, what then?
In either case it's not nice from FDev to keep us in the dark about the details.
"Acknowledged"... is all we know for now.

oh, we know quite a bit more. we know that those who are available to fix this still have no clue about why it happens, let alone how to fix it.

you would hope that there is at least someone still left in the company with enough knowledge about the spaghetti bowl to sort this out, but then we have to assume that such talent can't deviate attention from odyssey, not even to hotfix a game breaking bug.

which speaks volumes about the state of the game.

No comment about the spaghetti code from me, as I am not a programmer, and I have no idea how you can be so sure. But I agree that for an amateur like me it often looks indeed like this, since after every new patch long-fixed bugs keep popping up. You might have an inside into the source code, who knows...

all you really need to know is that it isn't magic. it's just a job, and you have to be willing and able to do it. both willing and able. at least one is failing right now, is all i'm saying. and issues might be tricky, but "i don't know" just doesn't float for 3 months. it's their own software. it's just embarrassing.

While this drags on, miners could learn to work without the damned PWA scanner... Were I a streamer, this would be click mana, but I'm not into that nonsense, so I'll post it here for free for y'all to see. There is one shape of asteroid with a deep core, its very distinct:

If anyone finds my snarkily delivered information useful, once they unwrap it from the layer of angst, I'd suggest they head over to the original post and drop a like on it as a thank you to @JonathanBurnage The post was the opener for this thread: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...ds-for-deep-core-blasting.465171/post-7257674

PWA was working fine, and then it didn't. This really shouldn't be surprising that a lot of players are upset. Coming up with silly tricks like FA/off spinning while firing PWA is hilarious of course, especially when you fly something like a cow.

Same deal as with DSS, which may suddenly bug out and highlighted all bodies in the system like if you scanned them. Of course you could work around it, but it's just very annoying when dedicated mechanics doesn't work like it should. Actually, I'm not even sure FDev fixed it, as i don't bother with DSS exploration anymore. Did they?...

Hope they fix PWA soon, either though I don't mine, having equipment broken like that is just frustrating for those who do, I'm sure.

Y'all PWA guys are making more noise than the VR campaign did.
-galnet soapbox

Stop the press sir! This is serious we've upgraded the dangerous discussion to elite discussion.
All hands on deck, walking amongst us is a traitor, a provocatuer, a loathsome individual. This, this pirate, mettler of code, fondler of profit has befallen us to great despair.
Not only has this, this dare I say commander gone and stolen all the sweet out of the spots but has gone a step further, so it's a mystery to what's in the rock!

If all it took was noisy posting about issues to get them fixed, you'd all be hearing a lot more about broken tissue sampling, smuggling and megaship looting.

Well i think it would be heaps less, because the issues would actually get fixed so there wouldn't be significant issues left to complain about. The idea of letting people know of a bug so they can get around to fixing it is a generally accepted cycle until you get to frontier developments :p

#issue_tracker

Issue Tracker is full of PWA bug reports.
Also, there are some asteroids that look like deep cores, but are not, they are just limpet hogs, so we'd prefer the PWA working as it was before June. It would be normal for the PWA to work, as this is it's destination, otherwise, it's an useless module.
The PWA scans in the back of the ship at first pulse, or if using Gameglass with PWA always on Toggle, it will display in front of the ship eventually, after 30-40 seconds, if your speed is very low, like 40-50m/s. Finding motherlods blindly is just waste of limpets and time. Sure I tried it, but I couldn't find more than a few, the game spawns motherlodes even on asteroids that you think they are empty, I have done that and found out.
Deep-core mining is fun, I do that for relaxation and the satisfaction is not the amount of tonnes, as I blow any type of motherlodes even if it's not a specific spot. Besides Bromellite, I hate it :)))) Fools people that is a motherlode, but it's Bromellite instead.

I'm getting the sneaking suspicion, that the PWA isn't broken, it's been quote unquote "broken" by Fdev so no one can test the deep core mining changes based on the balance pass. Expect the PWA to just start working in the next few weeks with possibly no comment from Fdev. If "Mining was paying out too much" then they probably "broke" the PWA to keep people from Deep Core mining and slow down everyone's earnings.

Can't allow you to be TOO good at our broken a** game.

Well it didn't work! as there will still be some diligent souls out there Raking in 200-300mil an hour as they know what they are looking for. maybe more?
and maybe they use FA off to spin in the same plane.

It's just broke, they'll get to it in time, for me it's not the money side of things but just the ability to scan in a broad cone the direction I'm going ;) when I do decide to mine a bit.
