PvE players are not the problem, FD's decision to split the players apart is

@OP - its nothing to do with protecting the inexperienced. The inexperienced wander straight into open and either enjoy it or get ganked or some other experience. A lot of highly experienced players are in groups or solo.

And why do every single one of these threads blindly overlook groups? Its always open vs solo... groups are never targeted. I wonder why?

Thats Great, it sounds like you want to play a nice easy safe game. Perhaps Elite Dangerous is not for you, perhaps you should play something nice and safe like minecraft or Candy Crush instead.
I know a couple of 12 year old girls that will happily show you how....

Snake bite i love you man and unfortunatly i keep giving rep to your posts not knowing its you but it wont let me give you any more

The reason this issue gets so much attention hummmmmmm let me think for a second...... BECAUSE ITS IMPORTANT. and its true ED did make every possible attemp to separate the player base even tho they gave us 400 billion stars and 100,000 solar systems? what does that say to what they think of their fan base? lol let me say it for them.... "We At ED dont feel our customers are smart enough to be able to get away from all the griefing "that dosnt even happen" very often" . so here..have and easy way to play and enjoy the game. while we ruin what was to be an EVE killer sorta game.

ED had the possibility to put EVE online out of business but they messed that all up with current systems in place, i guess it will be the job of Star Citizen to kill EVE, hopfully they dont mess it up like ED did,

Im still enjoying ED atm and its fun for me, Jst saying is all.
What are you smoking?

I targeted grups in all my posts, just as sad as solo imo

The same 10 people making this thread over and over again doesnt mean its getting a lot of attention or that its important.

nice assumptions you have there care to back them up with anything factual?

anyone can stick their head in the sand and go 'lalalalalala i can't hear youuuu' but it doesn't mean the person making the noise isn't making any noise.

I'm actually quite interested to know how they plan on pleasing the ppl in all 3 modes of play, without screwing over one or all of them at the same time, it should be quite compelling.

Typical 4th grade bully shaming tactics, no different than the use of the carebear derogatory, trying to shame or pressure players into doing what the bully wants rather than what they want. Probably very effective in elementary school, but sure to be met with much eye rolling and derision among the largely middle aged demo that loves the Elite franchise.

Uuuuuuuuuuugggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa is the appopriate response.

Just go look at the last 3 or 4 of these. Its the same guys, boringnick here created the last 3 of them. Its not hard to see. I can tell you from past experience with this company they are going to put very little effort into trying to please the pew pew pvp crowd, they know that isnt their core fan base.

That's simply the way ED is, you could potentially get interdicted by an Elite NPC Anaconda on your first SC jump if the gods of RNG are angry at you.
The concept of "starter areas" and level appropriate content simply does not exist. As my sig says, it's simply the way the game is.

I think it is the wrong approach, both on the level of game play and the believability of the galaxy. Whilst perhaps "starter" areas is an inappropriate term I would expect central core areas to be heavily policed, heavily taxed and safer than out-lying areas. This is generally what we see on Earth after all. And whilst you might not actually start in those areas you have the option - often at some expense/risk - of going to and spending your time in those areas if it suits you.

Perhaps it's just early days and they haven't had time to add that sort of nuance to the galaxy yet.

Its true ED had a huge potential, ut that is all lost now with them saying "were not removing solo and group play"

You don't quite understand that from the start, FD are making the game that they want to make, they are not making the game you want them to make.

I remember when i first heard about Elite:Dangerous from a co-worker and i started to research it and thought wow this could kill EVE online and even saw a few posts giving reasons so i did more research and said this game looks awsome and watched some twitch for hours while at work and the made the jump and bought the game, i have no regrets and i will continue to enjoy it till i finnly see no more players in open mode then im done and ill move on to the next space sim thats online, thats just how it is, and the same goes for alot of other ppl if ED dosnt start thinking about the bigger picture and stop ruling out options.

Fair enough, I think it's the right approach for exactly those reasons as this is a game where the learning curve is steep and punishment is harsh.
We shall just have to agree to disagree.;)

What I find laughable is how many people actually enjoy playing ELITE DANGEROUS with zero risk. I might see another player once every two or three days out near the heart of Alliance space. There was even a forum post about pushing a system that's two jumps from me and still no one is around.Very strong police in core systems was the way to go, but FD messed that one up.I agree with the OP. The rest of ya are just nutless.

And the best part - you can do all this online with your friends, or other "Elite" pilots like yourself, or even alone. The choice is yours...

: you will be able to control who else you might encounter in your game – perhaps limit it to just your friends? Cooperate on adventures or chase your friends down to get that booty. The game will work in a seamless, lobby-less way, with the ability to rendezvous with friends as you choose. This technology is already working, using a combination of peer-to-peer (to reduce lag) and server connections.

Play it your way

Your reputation is affected by your personal choices. Play the game your way: dangerous pirate, famous explorer or notorious assassin - the choice is yours to make. Take on missions and affect the world around you, alone or with your friends.

You simply play the game, and depending on your configuration (your choice) some of the other ships you meet as you travel around are real players as opposed to computer-controlled ships. It may be a friend you have agreed to rendezvous with here, or it may be another real player you have encountered by chance. All players will be part of a “Pilot’s Federation” – that is how they are distinguished from non-players – so you will be able to tell who is a player and who is a non-player easily.

<SNIP>

We have the concept of “groups”. They can be private groups just of your friends or open groups (that form part of the game) based on the play styles people prefer, and the rules in each can be different. Players will begin in the group “All” but can change groups at will, though it will be possible to be banned from groups due to antisocial behaviour, and you will only meet others in that group.

Hmm, almost like player choice is a fundamental design concept.
