Pyrite (in reality)

Was in a museum in San Francisco and came across this example of natural pyrite...

Thought it was cool how such perfect "blocks" of it could occur!

I studied geology as a teen and pyrite was always a favourite - from what I remember the cuboid formations are fairly common. I have a beautiful ammonite fossil somewhere formed from pyrite, with quartz crystals in the chambers - looks something like this:

I don't care what anyone one says... Geology is as cool AF. Nothing beats cracking open a rock and finding something like that.

Indeed, though most of the time when you crack open a rock you find... more rock.
