Because 300 shields and worse speed is similar to 400 shields and better speed.

you said "shields will be similar"

they are not. After the same amount of hits one will still be having almost one full ring when the other has no shields left... that ain't similar.
 
The ship is out several months now, if it wasn't intended as it is, it would be different in the first place. Also, people here claim it's supposed to be a trading barge, yet a developer in another thread said it will remain as a gun boat post-nerf. So which is it?

A slow very well armed gunboat with lots of cargo space like the 'Conda, but cheaper, thus weaker...

300 shields vs 400 does not much very difference in this case. This is 1/3 difference, but it is 50% before nerf and this IS difference worth of have slow, but better protected ship.

Ah, one thing. Shields in clipper goes UP much faster than in python. Another + to clipper.

So why i need to earn for python when i have got comparable clipper?

Because a python can land on outposts, isn't as wide as a jumbo jet and will still be better (all-be-it slightly) in almost every department
 
It actually is without A7 sheild and armor. But Python will tear Clipper apart.

Yesterday i fight with python pvp. I made many mistakes in fight (first fight in clipper from one month) and i lost, but i down Python to 60% hull. Better experienced player than me will crush python with clipper anytime.
And it was not nerfed well armed python....

but then the Clippper has onyl 263 shielding instead of 306.

263 is even less "similar" to 405 than 306 is.

Nope man.
Yesterday i fight with python pvp. I made many mistakes in fight and i lost, but i down it to 60% hull. Better experience player than me will crush python with clipper anytime.

maybe the other pilot in the python wasn't any better a pilot than you?

Really wouldn't balance the clipper against anything its hardpoints restrict its combat use heavily and everytime it was rolling on its rpg stat table the guy playing "Imperial Clipper" said i'm gonna put that in SPEEEEED!! Yeah SPEEEED!! The python will still be superior in combat to a clipper post nerf but I'm not sure these balance equations ever consider that the clipper can just leave at any moment I'm sure some people here haven't flown a clipper, trust me, it really is that fast!

Like it or not that is a combat advantage, just one that never gets mentioned apparently :/

but what I don't understand is:

before you said clipper and pyhton shield are similar.


but now you say +clipper as shields recharge faster. and recharge rate depends on shield capacity. so clipper shield capacity is less.

so now you are saying their shields are not similar???

-33% shield + shield cell nerf will make it vulnerable to just 2 vipers......-17% accelerations will make it even a sitting duck compared to an ASP
-17% speed to the python means 280 non-boost -17%= 230 ...... 385 boosted -17%= 320..........this is BULLSxxx

how much does it cost? 220 million decked out?!

fare well python......i had it 5 days.....lost it 2 times already (one time due to 3 vipers with dumb fires, one time due to a bug). so i go back to my OP viper......3,5 million and soon able to keep behind a python easily....

python should be the great combat ship....take out CARGO SPACE!

^Shield recharge takes a set time once failed but every loop it does takes energy from the capacitor, if its empty it stops charging the shield so you do have to keep some juice in it.

As this is the current python thread anybody know if there are C3 variants of the missing weapons planned? Multis/Rails etc If its meant to be a gun platform we could at least have some choice of what guns to put on it!

Shield recharge from Zero depends on capacitor but the downtime once failed is a fixed duration as far as I'm aware

Yes, but when they 'up' you can use cellbank. When they fail you have pants down for above one minute in Python ;) Shields down at now make Python defendless because he will be destroyed before shields go up. And he cant run for recharge because is slow. FSD from asp masslock will not charge before destroying.

Playing this ship is based on shields. If shields fill be nerfed, ship has lost his sense.
Hull and armour Python have worse than Clipper. When shields in clipper are down you can easly take a distance, recharge shields and back to fight.
