Horizons Python or Conda...?

Greetings Fellow Cmd's... I need some assistance in making a decision on my next ship. I picked up a Python and am just about finished getting it fitted. A rank. I haven't really flown it yet because I'm waiting for the new update to hit. I just realized that if I trade in the Python, I can easily pick up an Anaconda. But I would have to grind to fit it again. Also I would be low on credits. My quandary is should I skip the Python and go with the Conda and grind to re-fit it or stick with the Python that is about ready to fly.. Any and all opinions are welcome... Thanks. :D

Use your Python to make enough to D-Rate a Conda and afford 1 rebuy before you bother buying it. So stick with the Python for now.

This is more a ship discussion thread than anything to do with Horizons, but, for me, stick with the Python.
It sounds like you haven't even really touched on using it and you need to give it a try out to see how you like it.
I mostly run a Python at the moment and I looked at the Annie in the beta and you really do have a bigger feeling ship if you move up. Liking that is a personal preference, of course, but I didn't find it fun to fly.
Also I wouldn't trade in an expensive ship like a Python as you lose a lot on that.

Yea, I know that with the Conda, I would not be able to land on smaller outposts. But I would not mind that 'big bus feeling' of a big ship. And I know that the upkeep on a Conda would be something that I would have to keep an eye on.

I have both. I use the Python for missions and just out having fun all over as it can land outposts. Have the Conda for trading mostly, but use it for what ever is needed at the time. Great credit maker that Conda is. Watch that you have the insurance always.. Enjoy!!!!!

I bought a Anaconda a week ago and have it mostly fitted with average components. It s nowhere near as much fun to fly as the Asp or the FDL. Not found any decent trade routes to make up some money to get any better components yet.
I think I'll sell it...:S

The Python is one of my favourite ships, I generally use it for medium level cargo runs and smuggling + causing a bit of trouble in between those activities. It is a great multi purpose.

On the flip side the Anaconda is very good ship, even on a pure D-rated build. If i was in your situation I'd buy the Anaconda, configure it for long range Bulk hauling mission routes out of systems like Maia, you'll earn enough money to A spec a Python very quickly.

Only buy the Anaconda if you can afford to A spec the FSD, put at least 300 tonnes cargo capacity for the missions, fit some decent shields and still have money left for insurance.

At high trade ranks you can still make 30+ million per long range legal haulage run in 2.1 That will get you a nicely fitted Python in no time.

I already have the Python A fitted.. I wanted to know if I should keep the Python and work up to the conda or just trade in the Python and skip to the conda and try to refit it. But I see what you mean.. :)

What the heck - I'm playing it wrong. Never done any trading, earned my dosh in Haz Res and CG's. I need to google trade routes from Maia then :)

Stick with the Python for a bit - need only be a day/week/whatever. It's a good step up, and a sensible halfway-house to the 'conda. Learn and enjoy/hate as you wish. You've still got the 10% cut, so you may as well get some value out of it!
Keep a buffer of cash, and don't stretch it - rebuy + cargo loss becomes more of an issue at this stage ...

I had a Conda for a bit and didn't like it so much. Kind of felt like driving a bus. I have a Cutter now and it's much more fun. Steadily working towards A-Rating it throughout.

It's not a trade route, it is long range hauling through the mission board. It requires a high trade rank to get the good cargo missions.

I would suggest sticking with the Python for a bit, not only is it cheaper to replace in the event balance issues in 2.1 cause untimely deaths, having an A class fit has clear advantages too. Unless you are hankering for more cargo space or the extra jump range there really is no reason to rush from one to the other too quickly, the difference in combat ability is not so great that the price hike makes the Anaconda a must have.

I was in this same position recently. I went for the conda. But after a few days went back to the Python. The conda was too sluggish for me with the c rated stuff. I'll get one later when I have more to sink into it. Besides I really enjoy the Python and I'm making good money with it. It does everything pretty well.

actually - if you plan on engineering ships ... probably none of both at the moment. something fast with still a good jumprange ... courier, cobra, clipper.

but if - i'd stick with the python for a while, because there is nothing you can't do in it, including docking at outposts.

It really depends on what you want to do in game, and how you enjoy playing.
There's decent advice in several posts above mine, but let me say this much...

I have one Anaconda and - three Pythons (and am contemplating buying a fourth).

I've flown them both extensively, currently flying a Corvette. The Python is ok but I would suggest you move up to an anaconda soon as, outfit it for combat with just gimballed pulse lasers and make a fortune from bounties.
I fly out of Frey and go to Frey 4 for mining (lots of Painite) or for bounties.
Either way you make 10+M Cr every 2 hours.
The Corvette flies like a massive Vulture and is devastating.
