What's the top boost/speed that anyone's been able to engineer out of the Python . I'm hitting 468 but I'm curious if breaking 500 is possible?

Getting around 420 m/s with a G5 modded 6C thruster, according to Coriolis you'd need an optimal multiplier of 144% on a super lightweight no weapon/shield build, so best of luck with that one ;)

Whew, I've actually found coriolis doesn't match my in game numbers very well with engineering stats. I've got some pretty good rolls. Running G5 6A thrusters myself. I only tweaked it about 6 times. I'm thinking about taking a bunch of stuff back and trying some more. Maybe get lucky with some secondaries. Im slowly lightweight modding where I can.

Yep, pretty much an over-sized cobra, when ya think about it.

She's been my main workhorse for just about a full year now. Named her "The Matriarch" Why? "Cause she's a mean ole' hag!

I done a grade 4 charge enhanced on my 7a power distributor earlier today, it knocked 8 tonnes off of the weight with the secondary effect, I was very happy as it was my only roll :)

I've bought and sold my Python about 4 times, mostly to get the conda, which I then sold to get the python back. I've finally got both.

The python is the most annoying ship there is. It does almost everything! I'd love to fall in love with another ship as much as the python, I've a superb AspX, which makes the whole Galaxy a plaything...but it's not the Python. I've a Dolphin that can earn good money fast....but it's not the Python. Same for the Conda, it really, really can do it all (and carry a fighter)...but it's not the Python.

It's soooo frustrating.

:)

I have to agree the Python is good at just about everything but it's also not great at anything, for RES I'd probably use a FAS or FDL simply because they're more fun, for cargo missions the FDS is a great medium ship and can be as tough as you want, exploring an Asp or DBX, for multi crew the FDS or Corvette have fighters and huge firepower but for sheer ability to do nearly everything and land everywhere it's gotta be the Python

I fully agree. In pretty much every category, there is at least one ship that does it better than the Python. But there is not one that I would call 'better ship' overall, when compared to the Python.

Plus, it's arguably the best looking one in the entire game. [heart]

I'm currently exploring the far side of the galaxy in an AspEx....now don't kick me out for that....the AspEx and everything I needed to get to Beagle Point safely....was funded through mining in my Python....it's my workhorse and has earned in excess of 200m Cr in a relatively short time - just by mining! When I get back from my Exploration trip - last guesstimate was 3-4months - I intend to re-create my Python, like a Phoenix from the ashes .....as a Combat vessel....SO, if anyone has a decent build for combatting perhaps they might let me in on it. Having two accounts (Python in each) means ....if I can set up a decent combat build, I can try my hand at combat that bit sooner - anyway, hopefully you'll let me stay in the Python Owners Club...cos even though I'm currently in an AspEx....I am most definitely a Python Lover o7

I'm going to be able to actually have some spare money soon, and the first thing I'll do is get the ship kit for the Python, I want that spoiler on the back. :D

When I got my Corvette I could not bring myself to sell my Python. It is a great ship. With my engineered FSD I have a 27.24 LY jump range so I can get to where I want to do some killing quickly. That range also helps for hauling freight.

I'm in the same boat so to speak. :)

I was at about 27Ly range, until I started beefing him up a bit for combat. Down to 24-25 range now. I can still carry 144t of stuff, but his bite has gotten more pronounced for those who try interdicting me.

Supp guys, dropping here just to say hello and join the python fraternity. Mine is called 'Fat Cirrilia', cmdr Hosea Van Terri at the helm. She's mainly an Uber ship, cz sometimes and i move a lot between Quince and Wu Guinagi

So a few weeks ago I had bought a Python, it's the ship I've wanted ever since getting my AspX. Unfortunately I jumped the gun and picked it up without having any credits left over, so she sat in dry dock and waited for me to outfit her. That led to me eventually just selling it off until I could properly put it together for a worthwhile use. I'm up to about 80mil now, and was wondering what a good build would be for trading?

I guess it depends on how you define trading? Bulk trading? Missions?

Some folks use a bare minimum build to do the job and run from any/all interdictions. I only do missions in my Python, but I also like to blow up those trying to take what I have. Armed Trader is what I describe him as. I have about 220mil in mine, but you don't really need all that to be successful, as others have proven. This is just how I play the Game. :)

I bought the Python back! Finally decided to shell out the money again since I have enough to put a little into her and still be rebuy capable. How I've missed it [heart]

Why would you waste the materials for a G5 mod on C-rated thrusters?

Simple really it's about balance, for the additional 13 mil or so needed for a 6A you get 25m/s more cruise speed and about 35 m/s boost about 10% (I reckon the soft cap is beginning to limit thruster performance) also the additional power drain is likely to push the power plant into class 7 or limit shields/weapons/range etc

For PVE that build is capable of destroying anything I've come across so I have a very effective ship for under 90 mil leaving cash for lots of other builds with mostly C grade engineered thrusters class 6 and above TBH;)

I only think of ship builds in terms of Open play so at the very least I'll have the shield requirements to high wake before I go down (grom missiles notwithstanding). I know it's the Uber-missionrunner, but mine is generally set for combat. I also like to test weird loadouts. Right now mine has a mishmash of frags, a HY fixed cannon and a superpen railgun. My G5 dds were on the low end so only 416 or so boost, unfortunately and not very maneuverable so heavily reliant on fa off. I made shields resistant 6as (not prismatics) but fairly low (626) and reliant on a pair of SCBs (6a and 6d). At least I have room for the chaff and sinks. The loadout is untested in pvp but I presume it will have to run from most pvp ships. This is a bounty hunter and while it can do good damage it lacks the maneuverability to take on the more nimble fighters, or the punch to take on the heavies. It does to spectacular damage once shields are broken though. I used to go with heavier shielding and full frags which made it mildly competitive but anyone smart enough to keep their distance could beat that setup, hence the change.
I made this video to show how bad my lag issues have gotten lately, but it also shows my latest loadout:
