PZ2 news...?

I have the feeling that the next teaser after the red panda's tail and the lion legs is going to be a tapir's trunk.
And with all these body parts from different animals, we’ll be able to build a new super-animal – some sort of Frankenstein’s chimera – which will become the game’s mascot! Mwahahaha diabolical tone. And if there are still any angry visitors protesting in my park, I’ll feed them to the beast.

Since shoaling fish are also exhibit animals, is it poss that the blue boxes and 2 exhibit boxes are the same animals, meaning only 6 reveals?
That's probably just an error. The exhibit filter is new and they might need to adjust it. The batfish is also a shoaling fish and it's not listed as exhibit animal. Note that shoaling fish have 2 individuals in the icon and a drawing of a group of them in the zoopedia. I'm sure shoaling fish are not exhibit animals.

Moving the convo on, the zoopedia shows that we're seeing two exhibits next week. What do we think they'll be? I'm hoping not to see an iguana, small tortoise or a large snake! We want these for habitats (maybe I'm alone on the tortoise), unless exhibits are massively different this time.

We've seen 1 butterfly and 1 tree frog, hinting that we'll be getting all of these families back. I'm expecting to see the terrapin and another smallish reptile, maybe a puff adder or other desert snake.

Since shoaling fish are also exhibit animals, is it poss that the blue boxes and 2 exhibit boxes are the same animals, meaning only 6 reveals? How else are they gonna show the rest of the shoaling fish? I think the number of zoopedia reveals will fluctuate a bit each week, so far we've had 9 then 8, we could go to 6 and then up again to a big aqua splash after the 'deep dive' feature video 💦
For sure agree on the tortoise. Always thought it was a big shame to bot have them as habitat animals.
I also would love to have iguanas and large snakes as habitat animals, but with those im much less confident frontier will go through the trouble of actually making them habitat animals

Pretty much agree. I think they will continue to periodically show a trailer where they reveal a handful/bunch of new species, and continue to do their "mix and match" approach to Zoopedia reveals where only half of the reveals are actually new animals.

I do kinda like that approach.

I hope to see a snake or two with updated models. Yellow Anaconda perhaps?
Adding these animals would help cover both north and south america: cougar, collared peccary, armadillo, monarch butterfly, american flamingo and ocelot.
Speaking of model updates, as I expect many if not all late DLC animals to make it into PZ2, I hope to see Ocelot's model touched. I worry that I'm in minority in that expectation since there wasn't even a remaster on nexus for it, to this day.

But yeah, Ocelot is one of the better picks to cover both Americas and bunch of different biomes, while also being charismatic cat.

My irrational wish remain, to see Big Hairy or similar Armadillo in PZ2, either along or in place of Nine Banded.

Do you think they will have a zoo in NA and no animals from NA?
That's exactly what I think. North American animals can kiss my grits!

And the white-tailed deer. C'mon, moose and elk are stars, but a more common, basic deer would be great to have too

Oh my God, have you seen those videos where somebody draws a hybrid with the animal generator?

And here's the generator if y'all wanna try it:
I’d selfishly prefer the black bear because I’ve always lived in black bear country, but never anywhere with grizzlies.
The ideal is probably both, with the grizzly as a free animal, maybe?
Ideal is both, yes. Both are clear NA icons, but I think the grizzly is more of an international icon while the black bear is more iconic to locals. At least, I see more artwork here in the South featuring black bears over grizzlies

This latest blog post is so detailed and interesting, lots to pick up on, but I thought this was nice and felt pointed to us specifically:

There has really been a shift from the start of the release announcement. Following a bit of a quiet spell, and the end of PZ1 when we felt a bit, let's say confused, the communication has been superlative. From a period when I think we felt, dare I say, a little abandoned? Now I keep seeing people posting "they are listening", and I am posting this sentiment myself also. And they really have been! Frontier announced that they are only using the Discord for feedback, but I got these sense that they are still keeping eyes on our forum, and it is lovely to hear that they are.

They could just be talking about old forum threads like the original wishlist, but I think the whole concept for the new game shows that they are reading much more widely and regularly than this. The survey that they sent out last year reflected ideas that were spawned here first, discussed and organised by us, fleshed out by us and ranked by us, like we did here:

And not just the big stuff like animal redesign, aviaries, aquariums, reserves, pathing and foliage brushes, but more detailed things that we keep getting new reveals of in trailers, feature videos, blogs and newsletters: seasons, pregnancy, animal personalities, diversity in animal design, more choice of terrain paints, flexicolour everything, scaling, better hitboxes, herding, elevated null paths, interior lighting, easy mesh building, horizontal wood walls....just a massive diversity and range of the features we have listed on this forum has been picked up and made real.

Number 1 on that list? Exhibit reworks. And we don't know much on this yet, except that there is a whole tab in the new UI for 'Exhibits', alongside Habitats and Aquariums, so it is safe to say that something has happened with these. Can't wait to learn more about that.

So yeah, all this to say that this bit of the blog just got my all up in my feels. We give a lot of love to PZ and Frontier, even with our constructive crit and hyper reactivity. After the 'only on Discord' thing, it might have felt a bit one-way, but here they are telling us that they are reading and clearly, they've shown through their actions, they are listening. I love that for us!
I really liked the post.

However, I don't think that means they are still reading the forums for things PZ2 related. More like they have been for the last 2-3 years using the feedback we posted here to design PZ2 more than improving PZ1. But after their post here officially announcing the shift to Discord? They aren't reading us nothing about the new game. If they would like that, they wouldn't have warned us against posting feedback here. It's counterintuitive, in that case it would be better for them to encourage new players to come here and keep posting feedback instead of encouraging us to leave for Discord.

And it just highlights how weird was the decision to stop supporting such a big source of feedback to their new game. Instead of their own forum where they had full control and countless organised wishlists to a third party system with a more chaotic conversation.

The only thing I can think of is that more people use Discord over forums. I mean, let's be honest, we're not a big community here, some of us are even spread across other platforms, like Discord and Reddit (I think even old Zoo Tycoon modding forums have some Planet Zoo threads, but those are unlikely to be read by Frontier).

I think Frontier should've still read the forums here, even if their major feedback comes from Discord and YouTube videos and Reddit, because many of us are kinda just stuck here

This is great! Following that artist and bookmarking that link for drawing practice :)

Maybe Moon Jellyfish! They’ve been teased with the new shop and would make a great round exhibit tank. I absolutely think we will have aquarium Exhibits.
