Console transfer was paused when the galaxy was copied and updated to form the Live game. FDev have said that they will modify the console transfer process to work with the live galaxy, but when it returns, it will not be as comprehensive a transfer as the pre U14 transfers were.

" it will not be as comprehensive a transfer as the pre U14 transfers were" - just vague enough to be meaningless. At this point it feels like ED and Star Citizen are in a competition to be the most vaguely discussed space games.

"just vague enough to be meaningless" - That pretty much sums up most communications from most game developers these days.

When the console transfer process was first done you could get the following transferred;

• Game Progress, inc Engineers (I think)
• Ships
• Credits
• Cosmetics (Paint jobs, ship kits, bobbleheads etc)

There may have been some other stuff ... but when the process returns you'll get

• Asset Value (so the value of all the ships you own + whatever CR you have on you).

That is not what FDev said. They did say that the reansfer would be less comprehensive than the pre-split transfer but did not give details (I suspect that they did not know details at that time). They did not say that it would be a value of assets transfer.

That's what it used to be ... see no reason they won't return to the same method in future especially now there's two copies of the game to contend with and it also keeps things very simple.

According to the link above: "Please note: The version of the process that we reintroduce may not be as comprehensive as before, but will copy the most essential profile data related to player progression."

To me this indicates/implies that it will include Combat, Exploration, Trade, Federal, and Empire rank progression. Seems that there might not be any ship/module or cosmetics included this time.

True that they haven't been forthcoming about it but I'm sure they will give us all the details when it's ready.

I really do hope they transfer over our ships. I put a lot of hours in on Xbox, got triple elite and engineered versions of all the biggest ships. Then i stopped playing when they stopped updating, I didn't even think to check if I could transfer my account, so its my own fault.
Honestly I'm fine with losing a lot of things, but to lose those ships and modules would be a real kick in the teeth.
Although, in fairness, as long as the ranks remain, and we keep our credits, plus any for assets, I guess it wont take that long to buy and rebuild. I also already owned the game on pc, so I don't have to rebuy if the don't offer the game again
The biggest annoyance right now is the lack of updates on when transfer will return. And as its meant to be roughly first Q, I now have to decide whether to wait a bit longer, or go back to my piddly account on pc, which is little more than a starter.

Console Profile Transfer Portal: Returning Next Month
The introduction of Live and Legacy modes required us to pause the Console Profile Transfer Portal in November last year. However, we’re now ready to begin processing further requests and will re-open the portal in April. We are pleased to announce that this is a far more complete process than we anticipated. We look forward to more console Commanders joining us on PC, especially to enjoy the features offered by Odyssey. To see which elements of your console profile will be transferred, see our forum post.
