Soooo... The Internet just ate my Forum post. I'm trying to recreate it.

A few suggestions to improve the Quality of Life for a player:

  1. Let players "Ping" their locations to each other

  • I have spent A LOT of time with friends trying to figure out where exactly they are when they are not in system / in radar range.
    • Give us an icon the Galaxy screen showing where a friend is once they send us a "Ping"
    • To make it a bit more fun, have it be tied to us being within range of a Nav-Beacon / Station "Because they are linked into the super powerful Inter-System Quantum-antenna System"
    • If they are at a close by system or at a Normal-Space location, put an icon next to that location on the Navigation List, for easy reference.
    • I made some examples, but they are not getting past the forums "New User Filter" for some reason. I'll post them later.
2. With a game so Highly dependant on 3D Navigation, it would make sense to give us an indicator of what is "UP" and what is "IN" based on the Galaxy / Local system.​


  • [*=1]Having a "Normal / Up" indicator along with a "Center / In" Indicator on the Radar would make ad hoc navigation a lot easier for players, especially when they are trying to communicate thier position in space or during a heated Dog-Fight.
    [*=1]"UP" and "IN" could be based on the Galactic Center [Sagitarious A*] or on the Local systems Gravtational "Center" and Local Spin. Heck, "UP" could always be based on the Galactic Normal while "Center / IN" Could be based on the local major gravity well.
    [*=1]Link this navigation to the sensor moduals, so if they die, you lose your orientation and have to "Reaquire Signal" once power is restored. Perhaps the Nav Beacons and the Stations are part of this system, reducing orientation aquisition time via proximity to a Nav-Beacon / Station?

3. Give the Nav-Beacons a Purpose!


  • [*=1]If a nav beacon is present in a system, then during the charge up / jump to that system give us an option to jump to a Nav Beacon instead of direclty up the Stars Bum

    • [*=1]Drop us in Super-Cruise at the Beacon at minimum throttle within safe disengage rage, so we can drop to normal space right away, or fly along our way as we like

    [*=1]Let us jump from Beacon to Beacon inside a single system; Many systems are HUGE ( **Cough cough LHS 3447 Cough Cough**) This could make the actual playing of the game a bit more fun by cutting aout 5-8 mintues of just running in a straight line.
    [*=1]Let us pick which beacon we drop into when we jump into System
    [*=1]If there is a Check-point in the System; guess where we are going no matter what!
    [*=1]Let our Moduals determine what we can do in interation with the Nav-Beacons; A good modual lets you pick where you jump and how close you are. A REALLY good modual lets you go right to normal space at the Beacon itself. etc etc.


I'm sure I will have more Ideas, and I'll datly post them as they come to mind.

I want to close by saying that I LOVE this game. I hope you all have as much fun developing it as I have playing it.
