It is weird, because I used to have a lot of different headsets and the best I have at this moment for elite is the Quest 2 with Airlink. For me Airlink is way better than Link.
Something I've heard, and you may be interested in: It seems that, recently, a batch of Quest 2 have been released with some defect lenses which make the visual inside the quest 2 blurry not a lot but when you try 2 different headsets in the same time, it is very noticeable. A friend of mine used to have this issue and I have read some people on Reddit confirming this issue.
Maybe it is just simply your IPD which is not well-adjusted with the lenses,
have you modified the position of the lenses?, What is your IPD?, maybe, you are simply out of the range covered by the 3 positions of the quest 2.
The quest 2 for elite can be very good, just to give you an idea, I used to try/have for elite :
Oculus cv1, HTC vive, Oculus rift S, Samsung odyssey, Oculus quest 1, Valve Index
Recently, I have done a lot of tests between my valve index and the quest 2 and after tweaking as I wanted my Quest 2 to get the audio and the fov of the index, I arrived to a conclusion that my index was not able to compete with the quest 2, and I sold it.
With the index I can see the screen door effect which I don't see with the quest 2 and the resolution is much clearer for me in elite especially the text, everything look way sharper for example in SS at 1 and HMD to 2.0 in Horizons.
my Quest 2 is now modified like that :
- Elite strap with battery (5/6 hours of gameplay in elite wirelessly)
- I'm using the valve index speaker, I sideloaded an android equalizer app to have the same audio quality of the valve index at the root of the Quest 2 not just in PC mode : here
- I'm using the Minimal Foam Replacement Set for Quest 2. It gives me the same FOV horizontally, but not vertically (the index is a bit bigger)
And to finish in wireless with air link which is perfect for me on Wi-Fi 6, obviously. I'm using a RT-AX86U router
