Question about trading missions - how to find certain cargo

Topic. I've had the missions which say find x goods and bring them back here, and in most cases, I can find them pretty easily.

However last night I had a mission to find a high-tech item called resonating separators. First, I flew to a few systems on other missions and could not find them. So then I started poking around the trade route map for the first time, only to find that there are NO systems even remotely close to me with high-tech trade routes.

Am I missing something? What is the best way to find specific items?

And on the flip side, what is the best way to find systems that are purchasing certain items?

If you look at a comodoties market and see it on the list(if they import or expot it it'll be there) it'll tell you what kind of station's supply & demand it(extraction industrial etc.).
