Question for Open players who don't like PVP/ganking... help me understand

Yeah for sure. I was pretty new to PC at the time though and was still learning who's who.
Well I don't like their antics in certain galactic area, I'm not mentioning it as threads mentioning conflict there are shut down by forum moderation fastly. So that makes me ally of many of those considered as gankers. I just want that certain area keeps its frontier characteristics and does not turn to be bubble v2.

Part of a group of privateers, yes, but we generally favour role play pvp, mainly piracy. I am a noob still as far as pvp piracy goes, and I do it for the interactions, which lacks somewhat in a pure ganking scenario. I always understood that gankers mainly just shoot ships because they are there and because they can, hardly ever to cause grief, and I can’t abide those in the forums that consider gankers some kind of psycho in real life. However some of them are just lazy and they are bad for my piracy role play :D
You can have great interactions sometimes while ganking. I actually got bored of outright ganking awhile ago so when I do it I pull people, knock out their thrusters with a super pen rail (which helps me practice my rail aim) and then I make them solve ridiculous math equations for their survival. I've found that many players aren't even paying attention to their comms, which to me discredits the "I didn't even get a comms message from my attacker" narrative.
So many just aren't paying attention to comms that I kinda went back to just outright ganking, though I mostly just do legit PvP these days.

I was really getting into PvP piracy but the mining nerf kinda ruined it.

Lmao at the incredibly difficult maths questions, hilarious idea!

As other's have rightly pointed out, the issue is that too much of the game feels more like the wild west, lawless. Even in area's that you would think are policed, you could still get ganked just as easily as you would in uncontrolled airspace. I haven't played in Open mode for this reason, and I can imagine that would get annoying very quickly for me, especially knowing you can only hyper jump into one location in every damn star system. If player's had multiple locations they can choose to jump to in a star system, getting ganked wouldn't even be an issue. People talk about "PVP", really, the combat in this game isn't even that great to even be talking that up. We've seen it a thousand times before, nothing special about it at all.

Yeah, PvP (and NPC piracy which earned me 2 billion) has been nerfed far more than mining.
If you make me solve a math equation will you know if I get it right? he he
Agreed about the comms: I've been called a ganker by someone who just never read my various messages, he got about 4 warnings. It still believe in leaving them hanging in space rather than at the rebuy screen though.

Yep, I'm always saying the same old stuff about beefing up high sec security ..

When I go reverse pirating it's amazing how many people freak out and boost away, even when I'm sending comms even immediately before interdiction and after dropping. The comms being that I'm giving them free stuff. Sure there's language barriers but you'd think they'd at least target me and realise it's a sidewinder.

Like.... cutters have run away from my reverse pirate sidewinder.

The forums have a LOT to answer for: last christmas I went to the systems around eravate and offered new players LTDs (that I had stolen from NPCs) as a gift. They just had to promise to fight the empire .. :D They were scared but generally stopped and talked, although several ran in panic (I would have done the same)

I once asked a guy, what is the square root of 7? And he responded with 2.65 (it's actually 2.645-) almost immediately. I was thoroughly impressed, told him how to reboot and repair, and let him go.

Now that is the way to do it lol! I think it's a pretty genius way to tell if they look at comms or just spaz out at the moment - but as you say, there's no grounds to complain about comms with this!

Ps @Pugwash - you got the magic number 2000 you swine! ;)
