Question for Skyrim / RPG fans re Outer Worlds

It's ok.

I didnt finish it, I felt even on harder difficulty it was very easy. The stories are I suppose standard for the genre bordering on very much the lower end in interest and quality. There are a couple that might stand out for you.

Advancing your character wasnt terribly eye opening or exciting either, there was never that feeling of "if only I had XYZ skill that situation might be doable", maybe the game wasnt trying to be that sort of game.

It's a nice looking game and there are some funny moments here now and then if you like Red Dwarf type of humour. Not that many though.

If it's cheap I'd say you have nothing to lose by giving it a go.

I abandoned it fairly early on. I felt quite a disconnect between how the people act in-game versus how small the maps actually are. Things like a questgiver going on about how something is far out in the wilderness, then it turns out it was something like 500 m away. As for the story, it seemed like it's mostly about corporate culture being bad. I mean, yes, it is bad, but maybe you could do a bit more in this setting than hammering this point home constantly?
But the most important part would be gameplay, which could redeem all this. Trouble is, the gameplay's nothing special either: not bad, not good, just bland.

Maybe it was just me though, and the game will resonate with you better than it did with me. So yeah, if it's cheap, you could still give it a go, there are certainly worse games out there. But there are better ones, too.

It's alright. I enjoyed it.
Don't expect Fallout-style open world. It's more linear and story driven. Closer to Bioshock than Bethesda games, I'd say. Somewhere in between
But the story is cool, characters are interesting, planets are nice and varied.
The humour is kind of slapstick, but you get used to it and do get a couple of good chuckles, here and there.

Honestly, if you find it around 20, 30 quid, buy it. It's worth the try IMO.

I enjoyed it and I own both dlc. Its not a AAA game and it had a more B grade movie feel for me but I am a sucker for a good story RPG.

Why did you buy this then?? :)

Nah it's fine man, story and its mileage differ for folk. If you got something out of it then more power to you.

Did you like outer worlds? Im on the fence about it given that i have at least 10 games that i have never given a proper try, but outer worlds looks pretty good. Is it?
I enjoyed it enough to buy the dlcs. I got fallout 76 hoping for something close to an online version. Only played about 5 hours so far

Thought it was pretty flat and disappointing. The second DLC added some fun bits, but on the whole -- not tragic if you miss it. Deeply average, very linear world and none of the exploration buzz that you get from stuff like Skyrim.

Expected more from those head honchos after their years of keynotes and dev talks and theorizing.

Found quite meh... Not a bad game by any means, it's just nothing special. It feels disappointing mostly because I'm used to see greatness from Obsidian, and this one is just average. It got great press at start mostly because it was used as a tool to bash Bethesda. Not that Bethesda didn't deserve it, but on it's own merits, TOW is just an average game IMO.

As a Skyrim fan, I'll say that I have over 7000 hours of Skyrim on the clock, yet I doubt I'll ever do a second playthrough of Outer Worlds.

I found it a game-shaped game. A videogame, relatively simple, lightly entertaining, with a flashy appearance, like those videogames we all used to play when we were young and bold and clueless. It didn't try to redefine the genre, boast world-shattering features, tie you up with hours upon hours upon hours of open world "engaging content". You play it, you enjoy the characters, the story, you finish it. Just a videogame. I found it a refreshing sensation.

Skyrim is one of my favorite video games of all time and one of the best Elder Scrolls entries. Skyrim is one of the best games that I’ve had the honor to play. There’s a lot of reasons and I’ll list some of them. Firstly for a game of 2011 it has some great graphics and physics. The scenery is some of the best I’ve seen in a game. The best sceneries in a long time with the second being RDR2 and GTA V. I know there’s a lot of annoying memes and people hating for just playing the game but honestly I don’t really care.

I personally loved it. Considering it's an AA title. The grotesque humour is excellent. And if you tear it down and separate the rest, there is a VERY grim and dark dystopia underneath. The storyline is cool, the characters lovable.

Really good game IMO.
