Questions for experienced Salvagers.

some additional info - WISE 2056+1459 - known Tip Off site (persistent, will be activated on 14/01/2021)
and this one it the real gem for me - Col 285 Sector ZT-I b25-0 - that's evidently some other Tip Off related site, but this one is unknown to me. As there are no many Tip Off-related locations left undiscovered (supposedly about 30+) the new ones became really rare. As you mentioned "planet Dave" I can figure out the group of log it generate - also relatively rare one. Do you have any records/dates when you've seen iit "in situ" for the last time (to calculate it's timing with +/-1 tick precision)?
The conda in Leucos have the layout CS_AN_01_L in my classification, you can find permanent sites with the similar (=exactly same) layout in :
Sol_{body:Charon}{type:CS}{var:CS_AN_01_L}
Ithaca_{body:Huari}{type:CS}{var:CS_AN_01_L}
Belu_{body:B 1}{type:}{var:CS_AN_01_L}
Morrina_{body:2}{type:CS}{var:CS_AN_01_L}
Tsongoris_{body:9 a}{type:}{var:CS_AN_01_L}
Tsongoris_{body:2}{type:}{var:CS_AN_01_L}{coords:[-3.45,176.4]}
I haven't finished prospecting so there may be other already known sites with the same layout
+ 4-6 tip off locations with the same layout that I know about.

Also, during the last year I've visited quite a number of USS's - just in order to find correspondence between crashed ship fragments one can find on the surface with those in space - and can admit that sometimes there are quite a bunch of things to salvage. Finding the rules of their generation/appearance is really a good idea! o7

Great stats. and contribution, most impressive.

Legal Salvage I am looking for at the moment :-

AI Relics
Ancient Artefact
Antimatter Containment Unit
Antique Jewellery
Data Core
Diplomatic Bag
Fossil Remnants
Gene Bank
Prohibited Research Materials
Rare Artwork
Rebel Transmissions
SAP 8 Core Container
Space Pioneer Relics
Technical Blueprints
Time Capsule (posibly at algol double icon uss, but not found yet)
Trade Data
Trinkets of Hidden Fortune

I would love to know if ALL of these exist in the game as Legal Salvage before I spend 100s of hours more looking for them.
They are listed on the FC as Legal Salvage but not sure they haven't fallen victim to a bug or update over the years that has removed them.
For example AI Relics used to appear in the old "Strong USS" type as a bait pirates would place. This system was removed in favour of a new system of USSs.
Though we do not know if AI Relics where added anywhere else to the loot tables.

Anyway as always any info would be welcome.
AFAIK, they do exist in game as legal salvage

legal only? and 1t per piece?

Hey Goem... yes and no, Inara isn't listing the Tharg items I'm looking for, funny..

I already have most of these things but I'll set the items up to 3 also I guess.

It would be good to have enough to give some away to friends.

TA MATE.

Is there any benefit in selling Salvage to the "Search and Rescue" section and do the prices vary like Markets do ?

Only "search and rescue" types of salvage can be sold to search and rescue... so things like Trade Data or Assault Plans can't be sold, even though they're categorised as salvage. Conversely, things handed in to Search and Rescue can't be sold on the open market it seems.

Prices do vary on the Search and Rescue. The most noticable is selling Search and Rescue stuff to a Search and Rescue vessel next to a damaged station. Everything fetches around 10% of what it normally would, which is pretty sucky considering the normal values aren't massive in the first place (e.g a black box is normally about 20k on the S&R contact, but only about 2k at a S&R vessel).

Thanks.

I think I will do some testing to see if states change the S&R prices.
Its a shame all items classed as Salvage cant be sold to the S&R and that it isn't more involved, with missions and ranking etc.
Would be nice if all salvage was added to the respawn timer that Geo sites use or used, so that once collected in a POI, it takes a week or two before respwaning.

sold you 113t of various goods from my own stock and leftovers from my stints into guardian- and thargoid space. enjoy!

not sure whether you have been looking for tissue samples, but those i had in my hold there were no buy orders for it.

I know there is something different with the Hydra sample for example, compared to all the other Tharg ones. I think the Hydra one is Tagged as Illegal or Stolen. or visa versa.
So the buy order would need to be in the Secure Warehouse but that leads to complications on Inara. As Inara then shows only Sec Ware goods and not Market goods.
Its something to do with the way the Journal is sending the info.
You could have 20 items up for sale on your Market but add 1 Sec Ware good and it removes all your Market goods from the listings.

Hydra tissue sample is not illegal. It's the only thargoid tissue sample that can be sold to a market. Why:i dunno 😟 .

I found 20 large data cache surveys and 10 small survey data caches!!!
They were around Polaris system: got them in K, L, M, systems for now. I think they spawn near human habited system, maybe other criterias are missing but for now that's all i have. Oh and it take a loooooot of time to get them :p.
The exploration icon gives you three types of commodities (else it's not funny 😩):
  • wastes (personnal effects, BB, drones).
  • small survey data cache.
  • large survey data cache.

Just a last advice: search for them when you are bored.

Thank you so much CMDR Goemon, that is amazing of you friendo
:)

If there is anything you are looking for let me know, some items on my Carrier "Rocks Off" are hidden.
(I have multiples of every "unlock" commodity for example).

Just let me know man.

Nice stash CMDR :)

...and great info man.

I think the reward is very much in the giving at The Search and Rescue office.

I had a imagining where rescuing an escape pod could lead to further game-play... seems like a bit of an un-loved mechanic however.

I ran a set of tests going to a system in each state type and checking prices on the S&R board.
I made sure they were all single state systems and stations at the time. Except for Pirate attack and Retreat. Pirate attack because I am not sure it comes on its own and it doesnt have a filter, Retreat because its hard to find a system with retreat anyway. Incursion is missing because we dont have any going on.
Its all in the spreadsheet, under S&R prices tab
Has a couple of, what I think are, interesting notes too. Specially the Hostages swapping to Political prisoners for one state type.

From all that, I dont really think its worth me trying multiple states, but I will test a few and if its interesting Ill continue the list with triple states.
I dont have any legal Hostages or Political Prisoners, so couldn't check prices on them.

Off-topic and shameless "call for help" kind of post:
As I suppose that quite a number of "experienced Salvagers" have visited the "Hyford's cache" crashed ship site in Colonia (in order to get the quite unique commodity "Unstable datacore" available there) I invite you to confirm the related bug report about absence of anything scannable on that same site.

And sorry for off-topic.
