Hardware & Technical Questions for X52 (non Pro) owners about mode selector

I have the X52 and aside from the flashing LED issue (which is so far "solved" by not using the Saitek drivers), I love it. However, I have noticed that the mode selector rotating control on the top right of the stick moves very...smoothly. I would think that this control would kind of lock from one mode to the next when you select it....in other words that there would be resistance going from one mode to the next. Instead, it is an almost smooth movement from M1 to M3, with really only the changing LED to indicate it anything (instead of a "click" or change of resistance in the switch itself).

Is this normal? I've looked at a few unboxing videos (who knew they had a use?!) of this stick and I don't hear an audible click when the mode is changed, but it does seem like it has more resistance than I am experiencing.

I'm just asking because I might return it to newegg if it's not like it should be. Of course, I don't use mode a whole lot....but when you pay over $100 for a gaming device, you kind of want it to work correctly.

Thanks!

Mine has a definate resistance and slight 'click' between modes. Yours does not sound right.
Personally I only use the one mode as the setup was such a pain to begin with I didn't want to risk screwing it up.

THANK YOU for the reply! I tried in 3 other threads and never got a response. sounds like mine is definitely not right. I don't use the modes yet (either), but if I end up with some new flight sim, I don't want to have to be wondering if it changed modes or not.

THANKS!

I have the same problem, the click is hardly noticeable. BTW, what drivers do you use other than the Sitek's.

Hmm...well, I'm going to return it anyway since it doesn't cost me anything. Hopefully the one I get back will have a more tactile mode select button. I talked to Saitek support and they said it should definitely click or have resistance (mine doesn't).

I don't use any drivers now except the ones built into Windows 7. it works great as a standard joystick throttle except I don't have the mouse stick or the clutch button. When I get my replacement stick, I'll continue working with Saitek on that problem (trying different drivers). Hopefully some older version of their driver doesn't have this problem.
