Quick question about setting up Rift.

Hi all,

I've been playing Elite since I brought my PC about six months ago and gotta say I'm loving it! Best game I've ever played by far and just can't get enough of it.

I've gone for it and brought a Rift CV1 for myself for Christmas and I'm going in completely cold, as in I've never tried any type of VR before, and I'm pretty, well VERY exited about trying it.

I have a GTX 1080 and like most GTX cards it only has one HDMI, I've brought a Display Port to HDMI lead so I can plug my HDTV into the DP and the Rift can go in the HDMI.
Just wondering really if I have to set up a second monitor or anything before switching the TV, or don't I have to do anything and the TV will just pick it up from the DP?

Any help would be great,

Thanks.

You'll get a small windowed version of elite on your TV so you can see what's being displayed in the rift, as well as the full 3d inside the rift. TV should work fine, no need for a 2nd monitor.

Yep, I agree with TheThingIs - so long as the TV is set to pick up signal from the DisplayPort, it'll function happily as the 2D monitor when you're in VR on the Rift.

Oh right thanks for the reply's.

RedRaven, do I have to set or do anything to make the TV pick up the Display Port or will it just do it automatically when I plug it in?
I know these are pretty simple questions I'm asking it's just I want to make sure I know what doing so it goes smoothly.

There should be an input setting on the TV - it'll have something under the menu.

It will have an input for the antenna, and others for the other inputs.

The video card will be outputting to the display port, so you just need to go through the inputs until you see the PC screen.
