Quick question about today's patch, specifically the launcher.

When I opened the launcher, I had to download a new version, and the install required a restart.

Am I the only one? Seems a bit odd is all.

For me, steam downloaded an update, then the launcher seemed to say that there was a new build with the same version number, or something... I was confused.
Part of the numbers at the bottom of the launcher seemed to be yellow and referenced something new I could get. “Check news” it said...
But steam had already downloaded and I couldn’t find where else to download anything. Game played fine, and there was nothing new in news since the big 3.3.

FWIW the game still did the fun thing where it randomly hangs for 15 seconds or so and then goes back to normal. Did it a couple times in about as many hours playing.

I had it since 3.3 launched, so now I launch via Steam instead.

I had to do the same thing. When I tried to start the game it said I needed a new launcher, installed it, it wanted a reboot, rebooted, when the launcher came up it said to update, then asked me for a code from my email, did all that and updated. Took maybe 45 minutes tops start to finish including reading the EULA thing in case they tried to sneak in any of the South Park human centipede stuff... Glad I did it now because I want to fly later this evening and I think that would have taken all the air out of my sail had I waited.

When it was all done futzin I went in and checked everything to be sure. Ships, credits, ranks, modules.. everything is as it should be. I guess this patch was to take care of some of the recent issues. I'll see later if the performance has changed.

I suspect the new launcher installed a new VS2015 redistibutable which required the reboot.

Have a look in here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Frontier\EDLaunch\Redis\

Where you should see DX9 plus other VS versions.

The new launcher was also bigger in size than previous versions.

I ignored the reboot suggestion. Works just fine.

Saw my launcher was outdated, but wasn't prompted to install the new version, so I downloaded it manually. No reboot prompt after installing it.

I suspect the new launcher installed a new VS2015 redistibutable which required the reboot.

It installed an old version of the VC++ 2005 (which I removed, to no negative effect on the game, as I've had a more recent build of 2005 installed for years) and the most recent version of 2012.
