Quick question regarding Engineering

If I have a pinned blueprint and use it at a remote workshop to take it up to G5 (e.g. Heavy Duty Shield Booster) but then go to an Engineer who only has G3 access to SB mods and apply an experimental effect does the experimental only effectively mod to G3 or G5?

I hope I'm making myself clear but I've remote engineered my SG and SBs to G5 on what Coriolis says should be around 9kMJ but I added the experimentals (Super Capacitors) at an Engineer who is only G3 and it's only showing as around 5kMJ in reality.

Just off on a 16 jump round trip to Didi to find out but I'll wait a bit to see if anyone has an answer before I set out.

You can put experiments on any level, even one that the engineer cannot do themselves.
Thanks for replying. I don't get why there is a 4kMJ difference between what Coriolis says my shields should be and what they actually are.

I'm going to see Didi and see if it makes any difference anyway.

Ah... just noticed that 2 of my SBs which are Resistance Augmented don't have experimentals added. Would that account for 4kMJ?

I suppose I'll find out in a few minutes.

Special effects added by any engineer have the same effect regardless of the skill level of the engineer that adds them. Would also help if you posted a link to your Coriolis build here so we can have a look at it.

I've found coriolis to be a bit funny at times.

Can't remember what thread it was but someone posted a challenger bi weave build on coriolis not long ago that had well over 2k mj shields and I couldn't for the life of me recreate it myself on coriolis. I'm not sure how reliable it is

Sure this is it:

Vette

And this is what I've actually got at the minute (minus 2 Super Capacitors on the SBs) :

148482

OK, added SuperCaps to the 2 SBs and now the shield strength is showing 5724MJ. Still nowhere near the 9187MJ Coriolis is showing.

OH FOR THE SAKE OF CHRIST!!!!!

Guess who didn't switch the 7E Shield Generator for a 7A Prismatic Shield Generator but Engineered the bloody thing anyway.

Can I nominate myself for the Stupidest Idiot On This Board end of year poll please? 🤬🤬🤬

Ha. You'll do it again.
I do it with the FSD on new ships regularly. :D

Okay, incoming rant!

So I ordered up my 7A Prismatic at Didi's, went to the 2 traders to get the mats, went back to Didi's place, fitted the Prismatic and....... you can't remote engineer a blueprint at an Engineer's base.

So I have to take off, fly to George Lucas station in the same system, apply the blueprint there then fly back to Didi to get the experimental.

Just ever so slightly stupid!
