I think it's really insensitive that you should mock my pain whilst I'm suffering so much. In fact my dog did get run over by a truck as I chased my wife down the road... And then it bit me as I tried to comfort it. :( And it's ALL FD's fault!

I wasn't mocking you. I was trying to give you a good career choice. You have all the building blocks. All you need to do is put them together well and you, too, could be a composer.

"Participate in the first round private beta test" --- For me, this formulation is without ambiguity. It is not clarified if we participate at the beginning of the beta or at a another moment.

:D :D

I think you may have it there, that is a truly elegant semantic escape.

Really though you must have a wonderful legal mind, change careers to law or politics (or HR or marketing) if you are not already there.

Stop Jabokai. Do not tempt the fate. Do not joking with your loved ones. Do not Catch the devil by the tail. Target rather Psykokow, Fromhell or OSS

:p

FD! FD! FD! We want the beta! we want the beta!

Surely we are not all pubescent girls?... I think not...

The whinging about whinging posts are beginning to get worse than the whinging posts :)

HA! :)

I see your point, that puts me in a quandary, am I whining about people calling people whiners and whining themselves?

I may have to lay down soon and re-evaluate things :S

Yeah, then you get the people complaining about people complaining about people complaining. :)

I actually agree with the op, but not to the extent I think it warrants wanting a refund.

I hate those games that have double XP weekends, shortcuts, ingame pre order bonuses. I think it would be better for everyone and the games integrity if everybody was on a level playing field.

Most of the fun of the original elite was the struggle, starting with nothing and working your way up.

Between starter bonuses and discounts they are going to be missing out on a nice part of the game. I would personally rather experience that, plus no matter which way you look at it its a advantage over everyone else.

In the long term it wont effect me, and how many actually qualify for this perk is probably only a couple of 1,000.

So, I would rather not, but I can live with it.

I largely agree with you there mate, as my first post in this thread states, (page 1, post 7), this is no 'game breaker' for me, it just sits rather uncomfortably and sets a less than ideal president for the future.

No I am not there. But I recognize that juridically, it is an unstoppable formulation. One or two affairs with the justice and the notaries, teaches you how to understand the sense of words used in these professions

Waiting for something you want certainly is frustrating especially if it appears that some have paid to get to the front of the queue. Also, finding that thing incomplete and broken might be a disappointment, you might reasonably be quite angry about that. But if you could keep returning to it and not become angry but instead report your problems calmly to the people that could fix them. So that those who had shown patience by waiting longer were not disappointed, that might be considered a worthwhile thing to do.

Kipling much? lol :)

Why did you have to mention Kipling? Now I'm going to have to go a get some cake.

You are excessive. You do not see the fantastic work that Frontier has done so far ? All this has a cost. Time and money.
Not really. I'm not in the alpha, and don't want to spend much time drooling over someone else's apparent enjoyment via Youtube. So what I have seen is really very little.

I have to admit, the last dev diary whetted my appetite. Great fan of the Coreolis station.

But then, that became another double-edged sword when I learned I would have to wait even longer to see it for myself, simply because I am expected to stand aside and touch my cap to those who'll pay £100 more this month just to get first dibs.

IMO the developers are doing a great job. I'll bet the latest Marketing ploy wasn't invented by one of those.

Yes, all this has a cost, which I'm assuming was budgeted in the kickstarter etc. If not, shame on perhaps those same marketing bods who are making a hash of it now. But also if not, I would expect FD to be a bit more up-front about what they really need. I would consider plonking down another £100 if I thought it would make any real difference at all to whether or not ED happens.

But I won't just to pad FDEV's balance sheet and quarterly report at the expense of fellow backers.

You're going to need to articulate this a bit better, because I'm not seeing how this negatively affects you at all.

I'm pretty sure the game isn't being pushed back so alpha backers can have more time enjoying the game at the expense of everyone else...

Why are people trying to fan the flames by calling people whiners and the like though? Do they just get kicks out of being inflammatory? Is there a valid reason people like that cannot have a debate without resorting to name calling?

It gets my goat a little, (if you hadn't already guessed!)

People resort to that behaviour when they can no longer find a rational statement to support their PoV.

Politicians do it all the time.

Here's Francis.

Francis is 43 years old and lives alone. Since he doesn't have the expensive burden of a girlfriend, a car, a pension plan or a student loan repayment; he was easily able to afford the discounted Alpha package from Frontier.

He's the man. All 27 of his closest online friends are mad jelly of his l3337 skills.

However, in the spirit of Fringe, here's Alternate Francis.

Let-It-Out..png

Sadly he has type 2 diabetes and an autistic spectrum disorder (undiagnosed) and hasn't been able to work since he hit 25 stone circa 1998. He gets by but in a final indignity, much to his chagrin, his 67 year old mom recently started charging him rent on his man cave.

Alas once he's paid for his EVE Online PLEX (for all 16 accounts) and replaced the half dozen or so faction fit Hulks he loses multi-box mining in the Wormhole each week, he's only got enough left for a few pizzas a day ..

He is therefore excluded from the Elite Dangerous Alpha.

He is a second class citizen.

He is not allowed fun. Or joy. Or contement.

This makes him somewhat reactionary and unstable and prone to irrational posting on internet forums.

Looking good there Cobra.

I like your mancave poster, and I'm sure if you sold off some of your 16 EVE accounts you could pay your mother rent.

After all, one does not simply get a job - apparently.

Hopefully it's not an imba measure, and not the start of a trend of cheap short term monetizing tricks, or the game is ruined.

Oh it won't be, firstly I doubt they're trying to trick anyone beyond adding longer term value to "Alpha", secondly if you think this was a storm....

I cannot take your poll, none of the answers suit my taste, but whether not you want to stay, leave or upgrade is up to you if see the value in doing so, I'd hate to tell someone to upgrade and then you find it isn't as valuable as you'd like...

storm? psychic I'm not..

Don't you think that FD should be pushing beta sales as we near beta. That this is a cheap strategy diluting the promises they have already made.
