*Raises Finger* I have...a problem

My zoo is now getting a bit big, and I'm having to...ahem...restrict some of my animal's activities because things get out of hand quite quickly, and for the most part this works fine. But what the hell is going on with the Red Pandas and the Chinese Pangolin? Because, I think I'm on top of things - I let the main pair breed and I put all the babies on contraception. My error is not putting the parents on the pill as well, because honestly, before you know it, you have a Red Panda or Pangolin plague!

I thought I was paying quite close attention to my current pair of Pangolins, but apparently not!! I went to check on them and found this! (see pic.) And ofc now I have a billion pangolins with terrible genes.

How the hell are they endangered!!!??? We should be up to our wassnames in Red Pandas and Pangolins all over the globe!

I'm a bit frightened tbh...

P.S. I quite like the ominous lighting in the pic, it's a bit Jurassic Park, and I imagine them breaking out of their enclosure and running amok and eating the tourists.

By the way, this is a post that's just meant to be light-hearted. I'm not looking for advice on how to manage my Red Pandas/Pangolins. I just think their rabbity shagsome ways are funny, and it entertains me that two of the rarest species on the planet IRL are a pro-creative menace in PZ. ;)

I think the notification system has become glitchy since the last update. I'm having animals born now without getting a notification for mating, let alone conception.

I'm pretty sure I get the notifications, I think I just don't notice them. And I expect they happen so frequently, I lose track of how many matings/births there have been. :)

If you want to control breeding, my rule is, breed to the level of animals you want in the habitat and then put everyone on the pill. That is how I maintain a large zoo.

I don't think putting juveniles on contraception works because the game "forgets" the setting as soon as they mature anyway. Or has that been fixed and I just didn't notice it?

What I do is put the male in an enclosure on contraception as soon as I get a message about an expecting birth (sometimes waiting for all the females to give the message in multi-female habitats) and then remove it once that group of births has happened and matured to a certain point.
