Ramming - is there a solution?

6 pages and people are still not getting the actual topic.

It's not "get rid of ramming" it's lets treat ramming the same as shooting where it makes sense to do so. It's plugging up the loophole allowing ramming to circumvent the hostility/criminal mechanism.

It has nothing to do with removing ramming from being a viable option in combat. If you're unhappy with the idea of the loophole being closed, then argue why you should be allowed to damage or destroy another ship with no consequences, because that is the only refuting argument to the idea of placing blame to the person ramming and treating it like they were shooting the other ship.

It's a shame that you don't understand that a, nothing meeds to be done in the first place and b, all the suggestions so far are either unworkable or affect other areas of game play more than dealing with an occasional collision.

I think the speed limit thing around the station would work.

But given "boosting into the station past security" is Michael Brookes' stated method for avoiding being scanned it's probably safe to assume there's zero chance of it being implemented.. :D

Sure. Both ships take damage in a collision. The only thing that may differ is the severity of the damage taken. Get bigger shields and armor than the guy trying to flatten you and he will probably stop trying to flatten you. Of course you could just move out of his way, I know that's super duper hard and all, but I know at least a few people that can do it.

What if I flew my eagle into an anaconda and blew up. Is that the Anaconda's fault or mine?
What if that Anaconda ran into me and I blew up. Is it the anaconda's fault or mine?
What's the difference?

My solution = more shields and armor or evade.
