Your Feature Request / Idea
In order to improve gameplay, and increase immersion, provide a way to enable ranger team task automation.
*Ranger Team Queue*
By automation, I mean that a task that needs to be done by a ranger team (refill feeders, medicate dino, handle sabotage, repair building, etc henceforth referred to as a ranger assignable task) will enter a dumb fifo (first in first out) queue. When an Item enters this queue, it gets assigned to the ranger team with the most number of open task slots (if any). If there are no open slots on any ranger team, then it will remain first in the queue until a slot opens on a ranger team.
*Player Interaction and the Ranger Team Queue*
I player may change the order of any items on a ranger team like currently implemented with one exception. A new icon will be available on a rangers task queue. This icon is the ignore icon. If clicked, the task will not be placed back into the ranger queue for another ranger team to pick up. It will act as though it never happened. The existing trash icon will remove a task from that ranger team, but put it back into the ranger queue.
Items in the queue are not assigned to any ranger team that is actively being controlled, or is currently selected by the player.
*Attention Icon prioritizable*
I player may click on a ranger assignable icon (feeder resupply, sabotage, repair, medicate, etc) and mark that icon as priority. If this is done, this item will jump to the top of a ranger team to be handled first. Any items that may have fallen off of that ranger teams task queue will be placed back into the Ranger Team Queue
*Ranger Teams Set To Manual*
Ranger teams may be set to manual operation by the player. While in this mode, the ranger team will not pick up any tasks from the Ranger Team Queue, and must be directly assigned tasks by the player. This may be done by power players to ensure they have one ranger team to act as a first responder since items are added to the end of their queue when they appear. Or, this may be done by old school players who want to maintain complete control of their parks
*Money Concerns and the Ranger Team Queue*
Ranger assignable tasks that cannot be met do to cost reasons, while re-enter the queue after a few minutes delay, allowing players time to generate the money needed. Additionally, this is another reason why ranger teams can be set to manual, providing players with increased control of what tasks are priority.
*Disabled Ranger Stations and the Ranger Team Queue*
Ranger teams assigned to a disabled ranger station cannot be assigned new items from the Ranger Team Queue. They will instead act as the do currently (which I think is: finish off the items already assigned to them before returning to base)
*why this change*
By allowing ranger teams to be automated, this reduce some stress from the player allowing the game to be more accessible to casual players. Maintaining a manual mode as currently implemented allows more expert players to prioritize more significant tasks over others (fix the raptor fence, not the saurapod fence). This also increases immersion into the game, helping the player feel like the world they are creating is alive.
p.s. I know there is another feature request like this. I opted to create this as my own, because this request felt different enough to make it unique.
