In my python is an fsd with some engineering. If I transfer that module to storage and go into another ship can I transfer the engineered module into that. Reason I ask is that I've been advised to do a particular mission in a particular ship to gain the guardian fsd. Once I have it can I fit it to any ship or is it tied to that ship.

Yes, you can transfer engineered modules as many times as you like.

If the size of the module is right it will fit any ship.
Basically only armor is tied to particular ship model.

Notice that it's not a Guardian FSD but a Guardian FSD Booster, which is an optional module and not a core FSD.
