Recommend controller for FPS?

And let's hope you're wrong and ship interiors and boarding become a thing ;-)))
If boarding becomes a thing but the first warning we get is when someone is standing in the cockpit doorway, I'll be the first to lodge a complaint with whoever built my ship's sensors. šŸ˜‰

There will always be an animation to sit or stand up from the seat.
I'd hope so. And since we don't appear to have weapons when seated, not even a handgun, we'd at least need time to get to a gun locker.

And I thought I was weird, because I learned to use QWES instead of WASD. Something which was born playing the excellent FPS Alien Breed 3d 1 and 2 which were revolutionary technical marvels on the Amiga and ran in glorious 320x256 2x2 pixel mode or if you felt that 2x2 was too slow, 1x1 pixel mode ;-)

BTW. how do you scope with that setup??

I scope with the right CTRL key.

I wouldn't call your setup weird. I actually prefer it to WASD (well, ZQSD : pardon my AZERTY) as it gives less strains on the fingers.
But since I'm right-handed and my preference is to have my hands pretty close together, I'll stay with the right side of the keyboard ;)

Speaking of weird : I don't know if your are not-so-young-anymore enough but the original keys were AQOP ( QAOP ). I'm speaking 8 bit era computers. Cursor keys weren't always available ;)

edit: I believe one of the reasons that side is used is because historically there were less issues with multiple keys pressed when using state changes (shift-alt-ctrl) and they were more readily accessible on the right side (using the thumb and index). I'm speaking 199x.

I don't remember that - most 'retro' games I played used AZ (up/down) and <> (left/right)
Interesting. I don't recall having used that in any game.
I'm trying to remember specific games using the QAOP keys. It was most certainly on the CPC484 but it was a long time ago. It was certainly common among games.
Searching on Google isn't too helpful though. There is apparently a game named QAOP ^_^;;;

Been playing FPS's for years, did it competetively for a few years as well, never used anything but keyboard and mouse for on foot or driving.
