It is no secret the current state of human space is not great. We need a path forward. Since coordination of efforts is key here are proposed reforms for AEGIS:
- There are 4 stakeholders not 3: Federation, Empire, Alliance, and the truly Independent Systems. All need to represented in an oversight board. This is made up of academic, political, social, and military leaders. Each group gets a specific number of representatives for each role.
- Silo AEGIS into 3 core units: Research Division (biological, technological, and cultural research), Logistics Coordination Division (between Civil and Military where applicable), and Strategy Division. All must submit regular status reports.
- Each Division has specific goals that have specific endpoints and are accountable to an Independent Non-governmental Oversight Board (mentioned in first bullet point). All planning is done by Oversight Board and scope expansion for any Division must be approved by the Independent Oversight Board.
- Suppliers and Manufacturers cannot do both. To the maximum extent possible no one organization cannot essentially get unlimited profit or funding. This is partly why specific goals with limited timelines are important.
