Regular Podcast

Would you like a regular video podcast by Frontier

Those of you that have also pledged to Star Citizen, you may have noticed that they have started to have a regular 30 minute video podcast every Friday. They basically talk about how the development is progressing and mundane stuff like the work going on in the office. They also spend about 10-15 minutes where they select questions that have been ask by those that have pledged. Certainly the first one I saw was really interesting and a laugh, those guys have a cracking sense of humor.

I think this would be a great idea for Frontier to do something similar to keep all of their supporters updated with what is going on. Anyone else think this is a good idea?

Most definitely! I'd love to get regular updates on everything going on in Frontier Dev.. even if its just gossip about the coffee machine being broken!

since Elite got funded I havnt looked at Star Citizen. ill have to check the vids out.

I really dont know how im going to manage my time between SC and ED. one of them will have to take a back seat.

I think SC will have to be my fall back game.

Actually, I fully expect from FD at least one progress update a week. Does not have to be long or complex, but it should at least summarize the week past, and next week plans. After all, this process (KS) works 2 ways.

As much as I would love it, I would imagine it could take hours to prepare something Like that for us.

And is time they cant work on ED :) perhaps every 14-21 days and just mail progress report once a week.

Depending on how much they have actually programmed already its going to be hard for Them to keep the deadline on ED.

A great idea and I would expect something like that might happen based on the fund raising model.

"Might" I say though, as not every developer does and I don't feel that self-entitled - I just want the game! :D

However, as half of us have heavy techo backgrounds and/or are semi retired the community could probably knock something out I reckon. ;)

Some of the better game podcasts I've heard run off just public domain (i.e. forum) info.

HGmmm I just logged on to SC and tried to find it.....couldn't. I went to updates but the links came up to a page not found. :-(

I even tried the "enter the vault" and it just gets me back to the main menu. I am logged in but it doesn't work :-(

Ok I just asked in chat, to get those updates I need to be a "subscriber" which is a monthly fee of either $10 or $20 they get those updates. This is why I can't get them even though I got a fairly decent tier in the game. Subscribers and tiers are completely separate.

A regular podcast would be an excellent idea, it would drum up support for the game, and whet the appetites of those following the game hungry for tidbits of information.

Come on Frontier!

I would definitely like to see it as these boards do tend to be devoid of an official comment on anything. Understand that I do appreciate that FD are no doubt reading the posts but have to take care when engaging with the fan base. That said though I would appreciate some regular communication from them to let us know where we're at.

Even all 14 Days would be great and gives them more Time to pick stuff. Because sometimes you have just nothing so new and good to show off.

Please add a Poll to your Posting as well, would be cool to see what others think on this really Brilliant Idea. And Numbers are mighty. Perhaps, when our beloved Mods seeing this, they will/can approach FD with something in their Hands and show them what we desire

It is all coming together as Frontier work on the new structure. Fear not, news will be coming :)

That is the key isn't it. Finding the balance between spending time doing it and spending time telling people about it.

Historically Frontier have always been very secretive with their work, although I hope the KS campaign has helped to change their view ;)

I've just checked and I could view their podcast, didn't even have to login, so maybe everyone can view it. This is where I found it :-

Cool an Edit button ... I just checked the above link and it seems to work.

P.S. The podcast wouldn't neccessarily need to be done by developers. It could be their media manager. If there was a big announcement, then maybe a guest appearance by DB. It would give us all a regular tuning in point and a place to keep an eye on for big announcements.

As a developer myself, if I had to do constant updates to clients all of the time that would take away time from the proper work of development. As a fan of the series, and a backer of the project, I do want some news on a fairly regular basis.

Maybe something really small each week - ship of the week (we could have some fun with that) with artwork etc and a dev update once a month. To be honest I wonder how much I want to see, part of me wants to see all the really cool looking visuals when I get in the game. :)

We will be doing regular updates throughout the game's development, the nature of these though is yet to be fully determined. It'll probably be a cocktail of ideas I imagine, until we find something that sticks. ;)
