Regular Shuttle Service to (Colonia and Back)

Now that we have Mega-ships (and soon to have new exploration features), do you think a regular service to Colonia from a bubble based station would be a decent idea? Dock on a mega-ship (some sort of time delay here) and emerge in Colonia.

I can see this being abused with Colonia delivery missions, etc. so just have the caveat that all missions are wiped on route if you use this method.

Same for return trips. If this was done once a month (First of each month bubble to Colonia, 15th of each month Colonia to bubble), I don't see many down sides.

The cost for transport should be the same price as transporting your ship via the ship yard.

I don't see why not.

Flying there is pretty tedious. I still haven't bothered going to visit. Lol

Mainly because FD had the audacity to drop Jacques where it did, about 2 days after I got back from that region of space, and I have no intention of going back any time soon. :p
Unless it's easy.

sounds nice but what about travel time? ideally it should also be equivalent to that of ship transfer, which raises 2 problems: the megaships actually teleport and what would you do in the meantime? multicrew?

Let's just wait for it.
I have no doubt that some creative minds will utilize these things for ship and player transfers and bypass the current ship transfer mechanic.:)

As long as they reach the same speed as, e.g., the Gnosis, there probably won't be much opposition to that :p

The clan ships or whatever they are called could be used for that at some point.

But yeah, the mega ships could also be used. Hop on before the thursday reboot, arrive the week later after the next server reboot. That way it will take a week but you will not have to do the jumping yourself.

There are several megaships already doing this. Takes a few weeks (not as many as The Gnosis would take!). Sadly they are not dockable, which is a missed opportunity.

Heh, dock at that ship, call in all other ships, wait until we emerge at Colonia, go to a Colonia station, call all other ships off the megaship, 5 billion costs in migrating to Colonia saved.

No to monthly, delay and directly to Colonia.

Yes to weekly, instant and visiting 3 ports on the way there and three different ports on the way back.

Either you spend that week at each port or you only shorten your total trip.

btw the trip already takes less than 100 jumps now

I would prefer being able to hitch a ride.. I know its weird w/out space legs but id pay to hitch a ride to a station and buy a ship or hitch a ride back and fly another outfitted ship back to colonia.. again it would be realistic to have that. Also right now to transfer a ship from the bubble to colonia is in many cases cost prohibative so wouldnt docking your ship and getting a ride be the same cost?

Travelling is the great majority of what you do in the game and its already been nerfed twice.

Better would be a second commander slot so you can happily go experience the journey but won't be helpless if you decide you want to play some bubble while doing it.

Back before the wizard curtain dropped on frontier, i actually went an bought a second account. Even duped up on cosmetics. There's no way id suggest anything remotely close until frontier earn it by impressing with patches added to the game. Knowing winks to livestream cohosts were used to make them millions and it was all fake.

Maybe as a repeating CG players could bring supplies for the trip and if you're docked at the ship when the CG completes you go along with it on the jump. With a random chance that the FSD could blow out and leave everyone in the middle of nowhere. If that happens they could then either try to make the rest of the trip themselves or stay with the damaged megaship to complete a repair CG to get it back on track to finish the journey as planned.

Also, crazy idea, but maybe to increase tourism in Colonia they could build a "Space Casino" out there? Players could gamble away their hard earned credits at the slot machine minigames and buy imitation Hutton Orbital mugs.

If and when fleet carriers get into the game, I plan on running a shuttle service to Colonia, so keep me in mind for all your travel needs.

Agreed. There's bounty hunting and mining and local exploration to do at the intermediate ports (and for a couple of them, a little bit of trading) - so if the only issue was doing a lot of repeated jumps then that should be fine.

Possibly the dockable ships have a much lower range? All that space for carried ships and equipment means less space for FSDs?

Colonia megaships only move fortnightly rather than weekly, so for the most part that's a six-week journey one-way. I wouldn't object to them adding a dockable megaship on that basis.
