Regular Shuttle Service to (Colonia and Back)

No to monthly, delay and directly to Colonia.

Yes to weekly, instant and visiting 3 ports on the way there and three different ports on the way back.

Either you spend that week at each port or you only shorten your total trip.

btw the trip already takes less than 100 jumps now
Trip to colonia in less than 100 jumps? How?

Really? Took me about 260 jumps in my 75ly jump range Conda. Not using any Neutron Highway.

That's why. Even without neutron jumping until you hit the dense neutron fields (about 5-6k LY out from Sol) you can fly the last 16K LY to Colonia on neutrons only, other than when refueling.

Now that we have Mega-ships (and soon to have new exploration features), do you think a regular service to Colonia from a bubble based station would be a decent idea? Dock on a mega-ship (some sort of time delay here) and emerge in Colonia.

There were whisperings of such a plan when mega-ships were first introduced, of a plan to send mega-ships on a regular circuit of the support stations along the way and going all the way to Colonia and back but apparently that grape died on the vine. [sulk]

Looking at Alex Brentnall Anaconda video He only had 69ly jump range. So if people have 75 ly jump range It would be less than 100 jumps to Colonia

Checking Spansh ... with an 80LY Anaconda now being possible, Sol->Colonia can be done in only 85 jumps (but that assumes you have fuel rats on standby every four systems after the start to refill you)

It may be possible to just get it below 100 with the right balance of extra fuel tank size that doesn't hurt your jump range too much but also doesn't require too many side trips ... but it would be very close.

On the other hand, if use of detention-centres was allowed (no idea if it's race-legal, but why not if you're just trying to travel quickly), I think it could be cut to around 75 jumps.

Post the url of the spanish Thread.

What It sounds like if people can cut Alex Brentnall jump to 107 down to 85 or 75. That 22 to 32 jumps less jumps.

But that would also mean that you would need a (rather large) support group, stationed at pre-planned positions along the course.

1) shoot someone/something at a place that gives you a bounty (i.e. in a non-Anarchy system - could be the detention system), but doesn't get you killed or incapacitated, so shooting the prison ship itself is probably out.
2) travel so that you're within the sphere of influence of the next detention system (eddb only finds two between Colonia and the Bubble, spaced ~6000 ly. Does that mean you could do a ~3000 ly jump to a detention center?)
3) Have your waiting companion scan you with a KWS, then kill you (AFAIK the bounty has to be claimed in order to be sent to a detention center, so self destruct shouldn't work).
4) respawn at the detention center, go to 1)

For the three "prison assisted" jumps, you'd need 6 supporters pre-stationed (and 6 fights against the instancing system). Assuming that this would save you ~10 neutron jumps each time. Overall what, maybe 15..20 minutes?

You're overcomplicating it - use the existing NPCs for your supporters!

Fly to the Lagoon Sector base. Ram one of the base's skimmers. Get blown up, respawn at the detention centre near Rohini (yes, you do jump several thousand LY at once this way)

Repeat by flying to the Skaudai base to respawn at the detention centre near Gandharvi ... then repeat again by flying to Kashyapa to respawn at the detention centre near Colonia.

With an 80LY Anaconda you save about 25 neutron jumps (plus six refuelling stops) this way ... but you do have to do a bit more in-system flying ... but getting blown up means less need to stop to use the AFMU to repair the FSD ... yeah, you probably save about 20 minutes off a 1h45 journey if you're going at absolute record pace. But enough to cut the record from "just under 2 hours" to "just under 90 minutes", I reckon...

If you're flying something slower - say a 50LY Asp - you save considerably more time this way, as it almost halves the travel distance. My last trip from Sol to Colonia in that sort of ship took 7 hours ... this would have cut it to 4. You can even do it without the rebuys if you want - bring a lightweight small pulse (a mere 0.4t) and shoot a security ship from outside the range of the station guns. Run to supercruise, return, sneak into the station, and hand yourself in to be teleported to the detention centre.

Skaudai though does not have Contacts, so you cannot hand yourself in there, and a fine is sufficient to move you to the detention center after destruction.

Because the neutron star density is so high after Rohini, I suspect you are fastest if you take around 100t of fuel with you on an Anaconda to completely avoid refueling between stops.

it's a good idea. you should be allowed to take missions too but it won't be quick. it will scheduled to colonia as a dedicated "taxi" maybe even a small fleet of those but should take at least 12 or more real hours to get there and if you missed the window have to wait for next "bus"

With an engineered exploration build and spansh neutron routing Colonia is only a 3-5 hours away. Specialized anaconda builds further reduce that time. My record is 1:42:08 from Sol -> Colonia with a 73ly nearly min/maxed conda weighed down by extra fuel tanks. Splitting the trip up into a few hour long play sessions or enjoying the scenery/exploring if you enjoy that can help make the trip feel shorter.

That being said it would be nice to have dockable megaships to transfer over expensive ships/modules and I could see the appeal of riding a megaship along the colonia highway doing some light exploration at each stop before boarding again. As long as it took longer to get there by megaship than doing it yourself/transfer fees I really don't see any big issues.

Wizards killed the magic of Colonia...….. to the tune of "video killed the radio star"

What would you do when you get there? None of the shipyards have any good ships and outfitting is even worse. It cost over 300 million to have my python with it's current loadout shipped and took 3.5 real days to get there. After a month, bought a sidewinder, committed suicide and left my Python there. Should I ever go back, it will still be there, maybe a bit dusty, but still there.

I picture the residence of Colonia think something like "Deadwood: Messages from invisible sources."
Language prevents me from linking the video
