Abandoned [RELEASE] Trade Computer Extension

Well as i live in germany my system settings for thousand separator and decimal are like suggested.
But i still get the mismatch type errors everywhere.

Perhaps it is your english version of Office. Star system add is very simple code, so did you changed the predefined referrence systems?
Please show me a screenshot of what you have entered before the error arise.

It kills immersion for me too but I got so frustrated tapping all of the data into my phone (err, portable trade assistant) I finally gave up and started with the OCR. I only got a few stations entered with TCE before I was itching for OCR again :)

Being able to scan without tabbing out was discussed in the EliteOCR thread but it was decided that any way of automating the screenshots would be clumsy at best and you would have to interact with the client somehow to capture all the rows which is not allowed. The API being discussed here will hopefully make market data, and a lot more, easily available to you if it gets implemented.

I use a different OCR than EliteOCR and really like it. http://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDanger..._commodity_price_grabber_script_is_on_github/

It uses some kind of script to navigate the commodities list one item at a time for 0.6 seconds and creates a scan, then produces a side by side view for correction. When you click on the send button it inputs all the data into Slopeys BPC automatically.

I didn't like the idea of taking screengrabs and OCRing them. He planned to make it work fullscreen without tabbing out, but seems to have neglected it. Source is all there and its pretty decent. The way it works, it probably wouldn't take much to create support for other systems.

Releasing Update (V1.10):
- Bugfix in Trade Scout panel
- Manual positioning of all panels (including Main panel). All panels got a new button on the top left side. Click on it and you can edit the X or Y position. Main panel positioning is found in the Config panel.
- Added Panel.mdb to the DB folder. All positions are stored there. This database is open to edit manually in case of panel positions out of screen.

I plan to release a developer version of TCE. It grants full access of the source code. I have to adjust some things and clearing old stuff. Also its easier for you all in case of error reporting.
Perhaps some makes it OpenOffice and Office 2013 compatible. Help is welcome.
This would be amazing. Thank you for sharing your work! :)

Added a screenshot in this thread a while back at Page 12, shows what numbers i entered in commodities, after clicking save i get type mismatch.
I have german office installed, tried both with Office 2007 SP3 and Office 2010.
I didn't change any predefined referrence systems.

All i did was adding a new station, after that i wanted to update/save commodities for the new created station.

Okay, tried to reproduce the error, but no luck. So please tell me:
Is it your first station, you entered, so used the inital database? When not, please try it again with it or replace it. Also when using the inital database, please enter only the first commodity without the stock and save it. Tell me if this works. Thanks.

Wow. This looks amazing.

Before I try to dig up my old copy of Excel 2007, does anyone know if it works at all in Excel 2010 (OS is Windows 7, 64-bit)?

Very nice work ! I would really love to test that but Excel 2007 with macros and VB ... seriously ? ... :D
I don't doubt that this tool is genuine and with no hacks/viruses but most of today PC defence tools are gonna cry until you uninstall it ... people are gonna have a very hard time to allow this on their rig.

I'm still very impressed by your work and i'll patiently wait that you/someone update this to todays versions :)

Keep the great work !

same here.
German Win 7 Pro and Office 2007.
I can enter new stars and stations, but not commodity prices for the station, then i recieve a runtime error 13, type mismatch. regardless which form i enter, with "," or "." as separator.
i can enter just the sell price of one entry or nothing at all, if i click the save button i get this error.

I have german settings in Win and Office so no need to change the separator.

I have 2010 on a windows 64 bit and can not get it to work, so if you have any success, do let us know in the thread.

Yeah, i am really oldskool, but it was the fastest way to get it done for me.

Tiamat got it to work as he said.

I finally got 1.7 to work with my office 2010. I used the full installer and then upgraded to 1.7. I do have my ED folder added as a trusted location though so I might try removing that and see if macros are still enabled.

@Eventure : Reposting this as may have got lost in the posts.

Getting the following error when Launching TCE, the menu starts but hangs straight away with the following compile error.

Running:
Windows 7 64Bit
Office 2007 SP3

Elite Install Dir:
C:\Elite Dangerous\

TCE V1.5 Install Dir:
C:\Elite Dangerous\TCE

Can anyone confirm that TEC works with Office 2007 SP3 on a 64Bit Win 7 Machine.

Thanks for the info. I think it has nothing to do with the commods, because if you enter nothing, only zero's are written. But the time and date are saved for the last update. There could be a problem. I will check this asap.

I am using your setup. Win 7 Home-Premium 64bit german and Office 2007 SP3 german. I release a streamlined version tomorrow, hope this error will be filtered out. If not, you have to wait to the developer version. ETA this week.

Dear OP: Massive respects to you for this amazing piece of work. You've added exactly what Elite SHOULD have ingame. Frontier should take a long good look at this. Or better yet, hire you.

I confirm that on my Win7x64 i have seen module compile error only when Office 2013 was used.
After i have Installed office 2007 SP3 compile issue has gone.

Microsoft stepped up security in Office 2010 and again in 2013. Various controls (mainly form elements) have been disabled via a "kill bit" Windows update and both versions of Office have internal kill bit lists as well. Most controls have a newer functioning ocx file but as new versions are linked to the old GUIDs in the registry it has all become a real mess and 2 seemingly identical machines can have totally different problems due to the GUID rats nest. You can probably get it to work by removing the kill bits but this would open you up to some fairly massive security holes so I won't post how or suggest you try it.

You could try searching for .exd files and removing them as these are temp files used by ocx controls as that sometimes works. Make sure you do a full Windows udpate afterwards and include any option Office updates and an Office repair might help too.

I can test on 2013 but without the dev version Eventure mentioned I won't be able to see what is falling over in the code or which controls are breaking. I would have to install it on my second Windows partition but that has issues with the SSD freezing up which I have not solved yet.
