Abandoned [RELEASE] Trade Computer Extension

I would like to request a small change if possible.

I moved the main panel so it's aligned to the bottom of the screen, I prefer it this way leaving my cockpit view clear...however the [database] menu drops down so that only the option for [stations] is visible.

Any chance you could add an x/y position for this menu to the options? Thanks in advance ;)

I've had a play and think it has a lot of potential, but as I'm sure you know there are bugs to sort out. I will start reporting some once you get 1.30 up. (if they still exist :) )

A couple of things that would be nice imo:

A small 'hide/show everything' button in say the top right corner.
The ability to reset the database of commodities so that I can have only my data. I can't see a way to this, sorry if I missed it.

Did you mix developer version update with non developer full install version? The DEV version database is password free, the non-DEV is not. Tomorrow i release a new Full-Version V1.30 (DEV and Standard).

Aha that might be it. I got the non dev version of 1.20 and then updated to 1.29. So what's the difference really? i guess if i want to add stations myself etc i need the dev version?

Hi Eventure,
I found the mistake. As you hinted i mixed up both versions. ;-)

Another Question:
When you add a new station and set the station type e.g. Refinery a second time (already recorded one) and i press safe, i see how TCE updates the current location. For a few seconds i see the name of the first refinery then he switches to the actual name. But when i open the commodities he shows me the data of the first refinery. I'm not quite sure if this is intended or if he will overwrite the old data. Does TCE create no new empty file or is it a feature to have the last recorded comodities of the same station type so you can safely overwrite it.

I was not quite sure so i used other types until you explain it to me :)
Thank you!

That should be possible, like an option for the main panel orientation "Top" or "Bottom". I will see, what i can do.

With the developer version, you can look at the source code, the standard version is fully protected. But that will change. I plan to release just only one version of TCE, so it cant be mixed anymore. The protected version (standard) has no future, so the developer version will become the new standard. For all, who are using the standard (protected) version right now, i will give you the information to remove the password from the database, so it is possble to continue to use your recorded data with the new (unprotected) version.

That is only a display error at the Station database panel, i will fix it, when i have time. When you open the Commodity panel, the station name and the economy is displayed. For that station you enter/scan the data and store it.
It was an old feature to setup the commodities of your last entered station (with the same eco and star system) for reduced expenditure of time to enter the data by hand. The feature only fires, if EliteOCR is not installed. But after the implantation of EliteOCR, there is not need anymore for such a system.

There is no easy way to reset the database. I didnt know, what TCE is doing, if no data recorded, i have to check that. The only way i saw for you atm is to open the database and delete all recorded stations and all station prices. I suggest you, to keep the first station with the corresponding station prices. But you can also modify the stations you didnt want to have through the station database panel. Select with the position panel one station first and change all data. After that you have to edit/scan the new commodity prices.

A small hide/show everything button should be possible, if more user requests it. Why would you have this button, please explain exactly, so in can understand your need of this.

Thanks for the info and your effords *bow* ;-)

Do you plan to expand the trade scout a bit? It would be great if i could choose and save my route and TCE would give me the net outcome. At the moment it chooses the next destination based on but he highest buy-sell prices. that is sometimes like ping pong :)

I used to make a 6 to 8 stop route so i can run aid missions while picking up the necessary commodities. Would be a nice feature to set your own route.

Yes, the Trade Scout needs a little more love. Now its only a profitable ping-pong between two stations and therefore easy to realize. It was the last alpha feature i added. An expansion would be nice.
Multiple station routes is the next logical step. I have to work it out, so it fits into the overlay, perhaps even a complete overhaul of the Trade Scout panel. This needs a little time, because my first priority is to make TCE run in this state at the moment, before adding something new.

I'm hoping you can help....Running Excel 2010 , I've put the TCE 1.2 folder in the root of S: , updated to 1.29 , put EliteOCR in the relevant folder inside the TCE folder ,everything is in the right place.

But for some reason TCE isn't showing EliteOCR as installed , the COMMODITY button is doing notihng.

The Commodity panels opens only, if you are at a recorded station. Did you add the station, you landed? Shows the Position and the Shiplog panel the recorded station (the Star System and Trade Station name)? Please look at the FAQ (first post) for correct installation of TCE and EliteOCR.

Personally I'd rather only see TEC when docked. When flying in space I'd prefer not to see it. So a show / hide button or icon would allow me to hide TEC during launch and show it again while landing.

Finally got this running on my 2010 64 bit install so just learning my way around.

When manually adding commodities, price reflects the figure entered but stock levels are multiplied by 1000.

So if a station has 64 Gold, I enter 64 in the panel, but 64000 is shown.

Using English (British) localised settings.

I definately followed the FAQ when installing...

I was seeing nothing at TCE startup saying eliteOCR was installed.... (You will be informed at startup, when EliteOCR was detected.
)

I got the dev version up and running in Excel 2013 and it's pretty cool. It's fairly intuitive but I am having some OCR problems. Mostly in that if you press the scan button and it fills in stock for a catagory your not looking at. Sometimes you can't rescan the remainder of the next category. It just won't fill in the numbers and you have to start the whole commodity list from scratch to get it to work properly.

I like how the OCR is integrated so you don't have to tab out. But in some ways it would be nice to just be able to import a complete .csv or .bpc file and fill the whole list at once. So far I've been stockpiling my data files partly incase something goes wrong, also because I'm not 100% sure which tool I'm going to stick with. Cmdr's log or this one or something else might come along that's even better.

Any chance of a straight .csv .bpc import button and file dialog? So you don't have to go through the commodities in stages and can cross check the values manually in the standard EliteOCR way if you want.

Yes, if you want to enter only 64 units, please type ",064".

You will see "EliteOCR detected". Here again the folder structure of TCE

Please use the newest version of EliteOCR (0.51 today). I dont have your problems with OCR scans, it works pretty well here. What game resolution you are using? Did you change the colors of the HUD?
For problems with OCR scans, please check the EliteOCR thread. TCE didnt get a file dialog to import files directly in the future. Sorry about that.

Do you use english game language?

Yes i do.
All folders that you need for EliteOCR are in the correct location.
And EliteOCR itself is in the EliteOCR folder.
Otherwise i wouldn't see the button.

As soon i click "Scan" nothing is updated after scan.

Seeing that "gripped" has the same issue, there must be something we are still missing.

I always used the latest updates (non-dev), so no idea what's wrong.

I did not see the eliteocr detected message when using that. But it does work :D

Another question though.

I have an ftp database, once i have uploaded it one time will i have to upload/download it each time or will it fetch info automatically?
Also if anyone else use it i guess we will be able to share the data automatically too?

Like Wullaill above EliteOCR is not been detected. Also not seeing any EliteOCR detected message on startup.

Have the correct folder structure and all files are present as shown in this pic, using EliteOCR V0.51. Tried both standard and Dev versions of V1.29 and same result.

Here is a screen shot of my panels - Using resolution of 1680*1050 so would that be an issue of button being offscreen or something?

Might be a suggestion to add into options a select ....\TCE\EliteOCR\bin\EliteOCRcmd.exe location just in case that's the issue.

New Version (V1.30) released:
-Code improvements, Trade panel visual improvements, discontiuned protected version of TCE. The new standard version is the developer version. To unlock your protected database see notes in Download section.

To all, with detection issues, please install the new V1.30 version to correct the problem. But be aware, EliteOCR only support resolutions 1050p+ (see EliteOCR thread).

No, you dont have to up/download the database manually, TCE downloads the database, adds or modifies your saved entries, and uploads it back to the FTP.
The sharing function is the one, i couldnt beta test much as i wanted, in case of two users editing the same thing and hit the save button at the same time. Feedback is very welcome here.
