Abandoned [RELEASE] Trade Computer Extension

I have another problem with the OCR which doesn't appear to be working, but I'll wait until I've updated with the new patch and then try again before I detail the problem, if it still exists that is.

Hi All,
Eventure... Great Work! this extension your making is (in my humble opinion) exactly what this game needs to make trading more fun/enjoyable.

bAdbUd... I installed 1.36 beta9 last night and my OCR was not working either. All I had to do to get it working was set the language that EliteOCR was to use when scanning. If I remember correctly it's a checkbox in TCE under options. On startup of Beta9 ,when you specify the paths to things - I don't remember if you can set it then . I just know I didn't set it at that point.

Win7 , x64 , 2007 sp3

Please tell me, did you hit enter after the last entry of a distance?

I don't think so, I'm actually pretty sure I did not because I use the numpad and then the mouse to click save,
but I would not swear my life on it.

Found a bug in you posted routine and the issue with the UNLOCK button too.

Nice, i'm happy to be of any help in this !
It's exactly what Frontier should have included in the game to start with !
If they approached you, would you sell it to them or go work for them ? :)

I didn't change anything to this issue. So no flowers for me, unfortunately :)

Weird, it is much better and I haven't changed anything but your last upgrade !

Before, as soon as i moved the mouse up in ED, event if it was toward the right side of the screen,
the Windows white cursor would pop up on the CONTROL button which is on the left side.

Now, I really have to move it far toward the left corner before it shows
and when I Alt-tab I can now actually see the Excel window that was invisible before once TCE was started !

Maybe I was just experiencing another random bug before, but either way, if it stays like this, it's fine with me !!!

yellow, when screenshot is taken and not when the import is entirely done. = Done.

Very appreciated, Thanks !!!

Just installed on beta9 and first impressions are good. Added a new station and imported commodities really easily. Nice work.

Did you use the new beta 9 update?

Now when I run OCR I get a CMD prompt window coming up with errors, a progress indicator starts then I get the errors as you can see in the picture below OCR CRash.jpg:

I have the latest TCE version and Update Beta 9 and when it's loading I can see a message on the splash screen that says EliteOCR detected

I have EliteOCR 0.5.3 which is the latests version.

I've checked windows updates, nothing to see here.

I have dual Monitors both set to same resolution 1920*1080

TCE options block is is on the Primary Monitor, ED is on Secondary Monitor in Borderless mode.

I've tried OCR'ing with EliteOCR running and not running, same problem.

Is there any other info you need?

What game resolution you using?

1920*1080

I have a screenshot in this folder: C:\Users\Stephen Blower\Google Drive\My Games\Elite\Trading\TCE\OCR_BMP of my Primary Monitor, rather than Secondary MOnitor which I'm using for ED.

I'll test different screen setups and see it that makes any difference.

That's fixed it.

I set my Game Monitor to Primary and OCR is now working a treat, well sort off, I need to do some more testing but it's looking good. :D

Testing Beta 9 now, back in 30 minutes with a report.

TESTING COMPLETE:

  1. CARTOGRAPHY panel has regressed from Beta 6. You used to be able to click any row in the bottom half of the panel and choose from the various "Explored" options without actually visiting the system!. This enabled you to just look at the galaxy map > system map and decide if you actually wanted to fly there (often, I don't, and enjoyed being able to mark the Cartography panel with some combination of visited/explored status to "cross it off my list"). Now in Beta 9, it seems you can Add or Edit a system note, but you can no longer click in the EXPLORED column to set an exploration status unless you are currently sitting in the system.
  2. When clicking AUTO DESTINATION to set a manual destination, scroll bars do not appear in the SELECT STATION the first several times you try to do this. It's almost as if the NEW DESTINATION panel needs to spend some time building an index of the total set of registered and unregistered star systems. It usually takes me about 3-4 minutes and quite a few tries jumping around to different panels of the UI before the scroll bars finally appear. Once they do, they stay put from then on. (Until the next time I restart TCE beta 9). I remember this happening in earlier betas too but never mentioned it, so it's not a regression.
  3. After a bit of alt-tabbing to other windows (such as the browser for these forums to catalog test results), eventually the white XLSM sheet itself starts appearing when you hide and unhide a panel. This happened shortly after finally getting scroll bars to display per item 2 above. I'm going to presume this means the macros have hit an error condition and restart...
  4. CARTOGRAPHY panel is now _very_ bugged in beta 9. I presume this regression was introduced when you made the SPECIAL SYSTEM NOTE field much larger (3 lines instead of only 1). The serious bug I'm seeing is that the CURRENT POSITION system is quite often set to the AUTO DESTINATION system, instead of your actual current system where you are. This, plus the bug described in item 1 right now, means it's back to beta 6 for me. Beta 9 is effectively unusable.

Everything else checks out fine, but I was not able to find a new star system that would trigger the ADD STAR dialog.

with the registered / unregistered stations is there any way to add an economy of nothing when they dont have a commodities market so that the data for the station can be saved?

Ignore me, just found none teach me to look properly.

Let me show:

1. Reopened all systems to edit exploration status.
2. Cant reproduce the issue with the scrollbar. Also the time you need to get results. Anyone else having these issues?
3. Added a hide codeline at the end of init.
4. Your Position at the Cartography is bound at your current detected star system. Please give me screenshot with cartography panel open + shiplog, when the issue happens. Thanks.

Full-Version (V1.36) released:
- Bugfix in OCR localisation
- Optimized Prestart panel (now you can search an entire drive)
- Small optimizations in some panels (Scout, Cartography, Trade, Destination, Position, Commodity, Databases)
- Alternate TCE.mdb with only two stations

Bug report: Full 1.36

ADD REGISTERED STATION logic is bugged. It _always_ displays only Lubin and Bethe as choices, regardless of the system you're at. I've seen this consistently for the past 6 systems (and roughly 10 stations). It's seeing the correct star system, but not displaying the associated unregistered stations. This behavior persists across clean exit and restart of the app.

I've been having to use ADD NEW STATION and manually entering the station names. This is a regression from ~Beta 6 or so. I'm going to check for duplicates in the database in a few minutes.

Bug report: full 1.36

TRADE SCOUT is not finding some valid "hits" that ~beta 6 was finding. I'm happy to zip up and send you my databases with more details to replicate.

Edit: I PMed you with details and a way to download my database to reproduce/debug.

Yes. saw it too late, didnt find the problem now, looking tomorrow into and releasing a hotfix. Sry for the issue.

Feature request after all the bugs are tamed in 1.36:

It would be very handy to have a "radius" option in Trade Scout.

For example, I'm at star X. I want to search for all the best trades within a 19 LY jump range between the two stations in each candidate pair, but I _also_ want to constrain the total set of systems searched to no more than 80 LY from my current position? So: some type of pre-filter that throws out every station farther from me than 80 LY, and then runs the standard Trade Scout logic on the remaining subset of stations. Makes sense?

This would be handy for traders who like to pick up and move to a new area 100-200 LY away from where they were previously working, and just ignore all their old collected data from that old area 200 LY away. It would also be handy for people who use the default database that's preloaded with 150 stations around SOL, but they operate far away from that cluster of 150 pre-loaded stations and want those to be ignored in Trade Scout searches/results.

this. mentioned this a few pages ago, but you nailed it. :)
i really like tce, and this would be last feature coming in mind i am missing so far.
this is really a great tool, for me 'the way it's meant to be played'.

Hi - First up - I love the work and effort and community action that is happening on this. Very encouraging. Kudos all round, but esp to Eventure and Yokai.

I feel like this is a dumb question with a simple answer, but I have the following problem... I installed, everything appears to run properly. No errors... however, the TCE overlay overruns my Elite screen, so when I call up the System menu, for example, I can only see the extreme left side of the box.

I'm sure its a resolution problem somewhere along the line, but i couldn't seem to fix it. Both my regular desktop resolution and the game resolution is set to 1920*1080 I believe. And the game is set to bordeless as per Yokai's guide. Any ideas?

Right. I really like TCE because nearly everything it does except the Trade Scout feature is "based on where you are right now, but with access to a long memory of where you've been". Letting Trade Scout work in the proposed way would make the immersion complete by letting you control how far out from where you are right now that TCE will look for things. Trade Scout is a very useful tool--essentially a _core_ tool of any trading application--but when it's showing you results from 100 or 200 LY away, it forces you to weed out a lot of "noise", because most traders won't care about opportunities 50 LY away or more from their current position. They want to focus mostly on what's within a short flight radius of their current position.

Not entirely sure what you mean by the "System menu".

But, have you played with the Zoom settings in CONTROL > PANELS? You can also use the X and Y values to set the upper left corner of each panel.
