First off, let me say I love TCE. I have however a lot of issues. The most annoying is when I try to add a registered station. It randomly crashes with the following error:
View attachment 38000
This happens 80% of times. 20% it works fine, with the same data.

Thanks for reporting. Will check tomorrow, if i can solve the problem.

Hey Eventure this new update hangs up about 60% into the loading and this is on a fresh install too. On that question about deleting those stations from the DB I was going to leave two stations in LHS 3447 do I leave their ID alone or should I change them to 1 and 2

Leave the ID, its not so important for unregistered stations.
Hanging on load? Please more details. Thanks.

I wish I could don't know why it hanged So I just deleted everything and patch it up from 5 - 6- then 7 testing on the way worked ok each step and its working fine. I did try that deleting stations leaving just the LHS 3447 Stations and in both cases whether I did or didn't changed their ID's I got a whole lot of errors when opening it. NO JOY :(

Any chance you could just dropbox me one that would work

Update (V1.40 Beta 7) released:

Changelog:
- Fixed Auto Destination freeze
- Fixed Stored Locations issue, when station count is less than 9.
- Small changes to Station Database panel, to prevent an error on saving. Please check, if it is working now, because i cant recreate it.

No changes to the delete star system notes issue, please report, if it is working or not. Thanks.

I love your work but it would be really helpful if you could type up a few tips on how to properly upgrade from one version to the next.

Thanks again!!

If you used the self extraction installer to install TCE then from that point on to upgrade to the BETA patches just unzip them to your TCE Directory overwriting TCE.xlsm You can use winzip or 7 zip. now if you haven't ever extracted a file before I would need to know that for more directions

OK, so what do I do with the old instal files? Just delete the entire folder?

And how do I carry over the data from my old version?

Nope just extract the contents of the beta patch which is just one file to where you installed TCE it will overwrite TCE.xlsm
that's it for patching to BETA 7

Sorry, I meant, when upgrading from 1.36 to 1.4 beta1. When doing that and using the installer version, how do I carry over the old data? I ask as it seems to want to install in a completely new directory? Do I just have it install over the old directory? Do I copy a file over to the new directory? Does it somehow just read another file that I'm not aware of?

Sorry for all the questions, but I can't seem to find this info anywhere about how to properly "upgrade" from an older version to a newer version and still maintain your old info.

Thanks!

When there is a new, full version, it is best to rename your TCE directory and keep it as a backup for a while.

Install or Unzip the new version depending if you choose to donwload the installer or non-installer version.

All your info is in the DB folder
On major changes, Eventure will tell us if one of the files is no longer compatible.
Most of the time you can just copy your DB folder from your backup to the new TCE folder
and overwrite the blanks that come with the new version.

If you have installed EliteOcr inside TCE's file path, also copy it to the new TCE.

You can also copy TCE.ini over to keep your file paths and basic options.
It will be recreated if you have not or updated if you've copied it, when you run TCE_setup

and when there are updates, simply unzip to TCE and replace the old files with the new ones.

Error -2147417848

@ Eventure

You probably already know about these but just in case,
Here are 2 Microsoft articles I have found about error -2147417848

One is for you, the dev :

See also post #14 here:

It seems to have helped another programmer track down a problem resulting in the same error.

I am still on beta 6 so I will try the second link on my system with beta 6 later this evening (in about 8 hours) and report back.

With Beta 7 the error doesn't pop as often but it is still present (saved 3 stations with no issues, next 2 crashed).
A small request: can you move the loading screen to the top op the screen? If I reload TCE while flying, it covers my destination right now :)

Can you tell me, if the problem happens when registering an unregistered station or adding a new station?

I will release today a test version with better error reporting in this case.

I often get this error which is a shame because it's such a great app. The last time I got this error was when I added a new station that did not exist in the database in beta 7. I would also be happy to provide a log file.

The user hotfix only works for Excel 2000,
I have 2013 so I can't try it.
If anybody else here is having the same error with Excel 2000 and is willing to try it,
You can go to the Microsoft article above or you might be able to download it directly with the link they emailed me :
http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Microsoft Excel 2000/sp3/PKG5615/6321/free/132001_intl_i386_zip.exe

I will try beta 7.1now :)

Ok I am using Excel 2013 and I got this error after successfully registering one station and then trying to add a new one. It seems to crash every second time I try to add or register a station. This is the new error message.

Beta 7.1 deleting Star Note

Still getting the error, deleting a Star System Note at the Cartography panel with 7.1 :

Beta 7.1 Deleting Star Note.jpg

Only that one error box, no more details or debug option.
TCE does not crash and the note looks like it is gone.
I restarted TCE to make sure and the note is back.

I have deleted notes without any problem in STORED LOCATIONS - Blackmarkets, Outfittings and Shipyards

But I get the same error:
2147417848.jpg
when trying to delete a note from the TRAVEL LOGBOOK

I also noticed that in the TRAVEL LOGBOOK
- I can only save notes on STAR SYSTEM ENTRY or SECTOR
- any note entered on log entries for stations disappear when I click save.
- the entries with notes successfully saved are not marked by a different color or icon.
- The DATE and TIME for the 3rd log entry from the top are set to smaller font then the rest.

This is my last post for a while, I will be away for 3 days at least, maybe up to 7 days, not sure yet.
Hope this reports helps !
I will catch up to what happens here and start bugging you up again as soon as I get back.
Thanks Eventure,
Keep up the good work !!!

Thanks for your report and screenshots. That helping much. Found the issues and changed export of notes slightly. The "Field" in row 130 is the star system note ("Note:") and TCE cant find it in your database, but it is there. Could be a problem with the colon here. I changed it to an absolut value (7) for the next release. Hope that will help.

Smaller fonts could happen, if the zoom level differs from 100%. Try to raise/reduce it a little.
