Guests visit your zoo not just to watch your animals, but also to learn about them, their habitat, and their needs. Our in-game Zoopedia has been carefully researched and will automatically display information of the animal whose habitat you link the sign to!View attachment 139779

We notice that the screens have been improved since E3, they show more infos, it's great! :D

I love how this looks. I think the number in the bottom corner is the number of animals in the exhibit, and the sign even tells you if the animal is endangered.

I said this in another post, but I hope that the terrarium animals don't count in the 50+ animal count, but besides that I actually like the idea of terrarium animals in a zoo game.

There was once where people thought they didn’t, because of a misunderstanding, until Bo cleared this up in the climbing journal post. This is what she wrote:

Just coming in to set the record straight before speculation runs wild (my favourite Planet Zoo pun): all we've ever said is there will be "many more than 50 animals" in Planet Zoo at launch, or, in one social reply (Twitter) "50+ animals ;)" - we've not made any official comments about what does and does not count towards that; again, please be wary of speculation as there is a lot of excitement flying around and we don't want people to build up their expectations over something we've not officially said :).

Again, I'll reiterate that official news (including confirmed animals) will only come from our official channels - that is the Planet Zoo website, newsletter, social media, and these forums. Thanks again, it's lovely to read how passionate you all are <3

So it does seem hat they do count towards the 50+ but I’m actually guessing (and I believe some other people have also been speculating this) that the amount of animals we’ll get will be quite a bit more then 50. Like it probably won’t be 55 animals or so. I think I remember speculation of like 70 but I can’t remember where I heard or read that so do take it with a big grain of salt.

There will be loads of animals so you've got nothing to worry about :)

Oh Bo, sweet summer child! :D

There are about 5.500 mammal species.
6770 amphibia species.
9540 reptile species.
10060 bird species.
32400 fish species.
*)

And I want them ALL!!! > maniac laughter <
Don't tell me about my worries ... ;)

*) Not to mention insekts, spiders and mollusca.

Indeed a very nice screenshot.

I also notice clear differences between the two zebra's in pattern. Confirming the earlier message of them having different variations in skin type.
Most noticable on this shot are the foreheads and both legs.

Very nice! (y)(y)

Very nice indeed!

I am wondering about how it is done.
On the one hand, it could be calculated. All natural patterns can be described as algorithm. So, is there such a computation done with the inherited "genes" seeding the pseudo random number generator? Is the result than baked as stripes in the fur texture? This would be quite excessive, though.

Or are different fur patches pre-designed by a skilled artist and than stitched together - some of them inherited from the father's, some from the mother's fur pattern? Probably a more reasonable approach.

Anyway, FDev is definitely a master of procedurally generated content by now!
Something that not only gives me high hopes for Planet Zoo, but also for future expansions of Elite: Dangerous! :)
