General Remove private Lobby and single Player

Thats extremly sad on the other side because I don't understand why people wouldn't like to play with others that have the same goal as you are.
I can understand it, if players have other goals then yourself but why are there people, who absolutely despise to play with others? Playing with people will always be more fun in a multiplayer game (Elite or any other game). Always.
It's like sitting home alone without any friends and play boardgames with yourself and saying: "Yup, I have fun".

Yeah no it isn't. There are a great many times I want to get something accomplished, which even in the case of many wing missions, don't require any help from others, and to try and hook up with others, well I could have completed my missions and moved on before even being able to form a group. And I didn't use the word despise, that is you reading things that weren't written. In most MMO's, with some exceptions like ESO, my interactions with other players is limited to trading, either buying stuff from them, or selling to them. In ESO however, I raid, PVP and am GM of a 500 member guild, so someone would be hard pressed to say I despise playing with others.

I simply find it more effective, enjoyable and considerably less hassle getting things done by myself. Besides, I am a lone commander doing my own thing in the universe and fine with that, as are probably every explorer type player out there.

I live in open out on the edge of the bubble. An anarchy system with others nearby and a Potload of "feeding grounds", where we gorge readily.
Honestly I've never considered solo. It defeats the whole point of the game.

Everyone should play in the mode which gives them the game experience nearest to what they want in the game they paid for.

(Recognizing that this choice may change at different times if what they happen to want changes).

Also, making the game open only will make it unable to be played on Console without the monthly subscription required to play online.

The current status quo doesn't suit anything. Edo is broken. Horizons is a grindfest.
So saying we can't have this or that cos of this and that isn't a valid point.
We can do whatever we want. If the will is there.
And for some of us cmdrs who want a level platform to play a game that hides a huge proportion behind solo, that means one mode.
Common sense really, like I said idk what the counter argument is, especially if its centered around the current mechanics.
Things would have to change.

The platform is level.

Every player can influence the BSG equally.

Every player has exactly the same choice as to which mode to play in.

It can't be more equally level.

Edit: Man, so many people are upset about getting pulled out of theier comfort zone. If these modes really exist since release (playing since 2020), maybe it's really to late to change this, I don't know.

The three game modes sharing a single galaxy were detailed at the same time at the start of the Kickstarter in Nov'12 which exceeded its target when it completed in Jan'13. Given that PvP is entirely optional in the game (apart from CQC), it is perhaps unsurprising that players who have no inclination whatsoever to engage other players in PvP (or be engaged by other players in PvP) have bought the game in the six and a bit years since the game was launched.

But what definitely should be changed, is the fact that people, who play in private or solo should not have influence on such things as Powerplay, Community events, etc., this should only be doable in Open. As someone mentioned, you fight most of the time against "invisible" players (not including timezones), which you all have to admit, is just simply lame and bad game design.

Which is an opinion shared by some players, indeed. Naturally, others won't share that opinion - as it is PvP that is optional whereas all players experience and affect the shared galaxy.

It's never been for me, about pvp. It's about populating a server with players from all modes in as one. And an economy thats run by us.
As well as new hard-core rules regarding law n order and punishment.
And a raft of other things that would bring us all closer.
Yes I'm aware there's alot who don't want that.
Atm the games dying. Mismanagement and a dlc that has to be one of the worse roll outs ever, needs a new lease of life.
Peer to peer is passe. Mmo screams !!
But that's just my opinion. And like the naysayers I'm blinkered.

Players in Open have exactly the same tools available to them to affect the BGS and Powerplay as those in Solo and Private Groups - they can't force others to engage them in PvP though, as each player's choice of who to play among precedes and may over-ride any desire that others may have to play with them.

Some players cannot play in either of the multi-player game modes - and players who can have a choice of modes and exercise their ability to choose which mode to play in every time they launch the game. Both multi-player game modes are PvP-enabled - and not all players want PvP to be part of their game. While some want all players to play together, they don't have a say in what other players choose to do.

And an economy thats run by us.

There have been prophecies of imminent doom made by players since before the game even launched, i.e. some were of the opinion that the game would die if it launched with Solo and Private Groups sharing the galaxy - they've all been incorrect to date. What might constitute a new lease of life for one subset of the player-base might well prove to be the death knell for others.

Look, imagine you're defending your BGS faction in a system it controls where its inf is dropping. You're in Open in your FdL and you see an unknown CMDR Anaconda jump in and start heading to the station. What's the best thing you can do for your faction?
A. Explode him?
B. Let him dock?

The answer is B.

Imagine you are a Xbox squadron and you are fighting a mostly PC or PS squadron . All can play in open but will never meet and now it's even worse as we now have Xbox , PC horizons , PS and PC EDO . So now if you are a pc player in EDH another group in EDO can undermine you ??

And what's the difference between that and people playing in different time zones. You can't stop me undermining your system BGS when you're asleep.

Not to mention, how do you know I'm undermining you? Or are you suggesting griefing everyone who enters a system just in case?

My point however badly I put it across or was understood , is you can't.
With time zones PC ,PS , Xbox ,EDH ,EDO let alone PG or Solo or Open it's impossible.
So the line of this post( and all the others before it ) is irrelevant .

Yet some players don't want others to be able to "blaze their own trail" if doing so means that they won't be available to be shot at when engaging in mode shared game features.... The reason given is often "but they're affecting my game", ignoring the fact that the game belongs to all players (and players in Open affect the game of those in Solo and Private Groups), regardless of which game mode they choose to play in and not just to those who prefer PvP.

If people really want more open play, they should advocate for features that encourage it. Some such features include:

• Matchmaking for wing missions
• Pvp leagues
• Better powerplay capitol systems
• Better multicrew

Three of those suggestions don't rely on playing in just one of the two multi-player modes.

As the title says: Remove private Lobby and single Player. Why? Because right now people are having influences on the galaxy and you can't stop them from having it. Best examples are Community events and Powerplay. My power was expanding into a system and I sat there for over an hour and couldn't find one player, yet the undermining bar goes higher and higher because people are hiding in single Player or private Lobby. This shouldn't be the case, if enemys are undermining a system, we should be able to fight back the undermining (maybe even add Powerplay missions?). Same goes for Community events.

The upside of this would be, that people are getting more encourage and/or forced to interact more with the community, play together and/or thinks twice before they engaging into enemy Powerplay territory or Communty events, having multiplayer game and it should treated as such one.
