For me, the most frustrating part of the new exploration mechanics is that you can't use the FSS Scanner whilst charging your FSD for a hyperspace jump. This means that looking out for interesting bodies whilst on a long-distance honk-scoop-jump journey takes much longer than using the old mechanic.
We used to be able to honk & scoop, start charging the FSD and then check the System Map for WWs, ELWs, etc. whilst charging for the jump. Then if you saw something interesting you could cancel your jump.
But because the System Map is no longer populated on the honk and you instead need to look at the FSS Scanner to identify bodies, this means you can't start charging the FSD until you've finished with the FSS.
It may not sound like much but that time lost charging the FSD for each jump really adds up over a long journey. The solution is simple: allow us to use FSS whilst charging for the jump.
