Rest and waste management 🚽 🧽 🗑 🦖

Hello all, I am finally confident to give you my thoughts on how we could have rest and waste management into the game! I decided to do both together in one post as they need each other to function. So I hope that is okay :)

When it comes to park management, the game does rather well in terms of dinosaur management. However, I believe we also need to expand on the guests in the game. Currently there is much talk on how we should incorporate restrooms and cleaning into the game. I believe I found an interesting direction we could take but you are all welcome to give me your feedback.

REST MANAGEMENT:
Bathroom and rest areas.
Located in the guests building options.

The rest management is a combination of two needs, comfort and relief. I believe that the humans in the game should reflect those in reality, they really need to go when they need to go. Likewise, this is a park located in a tropical environment, so why not turn parts of the park into a tourist attraction where lounges and spas are an option? All of this combined should be seen as the rest management view, how comfortable our park is when it comes to taking it easy.

Functionality:
These buildings will act the same as restaurants, bars, and other guest needs. They will help provide viewing galleries and towers the rest need. So if the building is red in rest management, you are free to place in an option of the rest buildings.

The buildings will be:

• Bathroom (Small rest filling)
• Large bathroom (Large rest filling)
• Lounge (food and drink) (small rest filling)
• Grand Lounge (Food, Drink and fun) (Medium Rest filling)
• Hotel (Medium rest filling)

The bathroom and large bathroom both provide rest only to our guests. They have one purpose so they might as well do it right! The standard bathroom is rather small and is used in areas that are tight and not in desperate need of rest. The large bathroom provides the best kind of rest to our guests and covers the largest area for larger parks with lots of viewing options.

Then we have the Lounge and Grand lounge. These two don't provide the best in rest, but they also cater to guests other needs in food, drink, and fun for the grand lounge. The standard lounge is fairly sized, slightly bigger than a restraunt in game. It would allow guests to chill and enjoy their food and beverages at their leisure. The Grand Lounge is very high end, also providing an additional need in fun to our guests. These lounge options are superb for the scenic areas of your park, but also for places that could not hold a restaurant, bar, and bathroom together. They are costly, but should allow for balanced needs and a notable income for smaller space and lower upkeep.

I decided hotels should also allow for rest as they are hotels in the end of the day. However, this could be an upgraded hotel like a grand hotel if needed, that would occupy more guests and rest for a larger size while the standard hotel don't have rest.

Now then let us focus on:

WASTE MANAGEMENT:
Waste management buildings.
Located in the facilities building options.

These buildings are the facility buildings needed to keep your park clean. You may take care of the dinosaurs, but they take care of the real animals of the park. These buildings will introduce staff workers that will maintain your park's overall cleanliness. Allowing your park to look nice to your eyes, and nicer to marketing agencies.

Functionality:
These are unique. Not only are they cleaning the platforms, they would also clean the pathways that are high in guest traffic and the rest management buildings. This would allow us to see how much of a mess our park is when more guests would start coming in. At first, it is unneeded, but over time the trash will grow, and this will make your park look dirty, but will also decrease your park's rating, introducing a natural but recoverable drop in ratings that the player needs to prepare for.

Over time paths would get dirty depending on the number of buildings it is connected to. A single dirt path to the power station would remain very clean, as only park staff goes to that area and respect protocol to not leave a mess. However, guests passing by the restaurant, bathrooms, and viewing platforms would leave a mess.

Trash cans are technically in the game, so what we could do is make them a visual aid to show how much trash is coming into the park. Trash cans in large paths are empty by default, but as guest traffic increases, these trash cans would be full. That is an indication that your park is now going to get dirty unless you build some waste management buildings. Over time, cans and litter would fill up these paths, and your park rating is starting to decrease as a result of having a dirty park. So now is a time to build some waste management buildings.

These buildings are:

• Small waste management (1 upgrade slot)
• Medium waste management (2 upgrade slots)
• Large waste management (3 upgrade slots)

These buildings are as written, differently sized buildings for different locations of your park. Each one has a range of effect, overall effectiveness, and upgradable slots that are representative to their size. The area that these buildings cover will take care of the mess. The larger the building, the better the range is in waste management. That way, you may need a small maintenance building for the small viewing gallery and shop at the edge of your park, or the large one placed at the center in front of your star attractions and bustling streets.

The area would also be interesting as you would now notice staff members walking around the park with vacuum backpacks. At first, I wanted them to be in a cleaning vehicle that would allow for the aesthetic appeal of a large park. But this would work better: The staff members would be able to act like guests and dodge incoming ranger vehicles and get eaten by the dinosaurs. They themselves do not technically clean the park but are a nice aesthetic change to the bustling crowds. These staff members would walk around in blue uniform and helmets and would blow or suck their vacuum in front of them, creating small dust clouds which guests will walk around.

And stated earlier, there are upgrade options to these buildings. They are:
• Additional Cleaning Equipment (increases effectiveness of waste management)
• New Boots (Increases radius of the building)
• Recycle Program (reduces upkeep costs)

These upgrades would help the buildings depending on their locations. Maybe the small waste management building needs a bit more oomf to clean the last spots. Or your large building could cover wider ground.

This is basically what I have in mind when it comes to introducing waste management and rest areas. JWE has a bigger emphasis on park management than other games I played, but it needs more stuff for us to manage. Introducing these two would finally allow the game to have basic park building game features in a way that respects the in game system.

Thank you all for reading this, it is rather lengthy but I believe I should be thorough with what I have in mind. Please do let me know what you think. I am unsure whether or not we would get such management into the game, but I believe it is better to inform frontier now of the things we would like to see as the first year of JWE support is about to reach its end. Thank you for reading and thank you frontier for listening to all of our requests! 😊🚽🧽

EDIT: I forgot about a unique feature of the waste management buildings! 😱

Fun Fact:
For the waste management buildings, I thought it would be a cool idea to have a backdoor area that has trash piling up. Does not sound interesting right? Well that trash pile could save someone's life!

If a small carnivore like troodon, proceratosaurus, and/or dilophosaurus is within the area of the waste management building. They may decide to have a quick visit to the trash pile and scavenge the trash to find some leftover gigantosteak 😋 This will be hilarious and visually entertaining as they are small dinosaurs that may need to scavenge for food in their time. Gameplay wise it would actually allow the player a few more seconds to tranquilize this dinosaur! This in turn would allow dinosaurs to interact with buildings in a way that affects gameplay! :D

Excellent idea!!!!

Excellent idea!!!!

Thank you so much! I really wanted to try and figure out how to have restrooms and cleaning management in the game. Hopefully it will make sense to have in game.
Also I just added a fun feature for waste management just now, maybe you'd like to have a quick read at the end and let me know what you think? Thank you :)
