Retreating faction has an asset

Here's another rare enough BGS concept I'm curious to know the answer to...

So our adopted MF is in a system and is top influencer. But not the Controlling Faction (yet!).
A 2nd asset is owned by a MF down at 2% influence that have gone pending Retreat. They are a non-native faction so can indeed be ejected as they exist in another system still.
Now, let's say ther Inf doesn't recover, I assume they will retreat and the asset will be inherited by the CF?
Is that correct or will it be inherited by the top influencer?

Typically, the faction with the highest influence will gain the asset.

May not be the controlling faction, depending how things add up.

I have only had one example of two factions tied for influence during a successful retreat, and in that instance the faction that owned a property already gained the asset the retreating faction left.

Hmm...interesting...so it seems we don't really know and to be fair, it must be a rare enough event.
This system is on the fringe so nobody goes there so I'll work on keeping that Retreat flowing and hopefully we'll get an answer to this question to add another drop to our pool of BGS knowledge :)

Always been controling faction and top influence holder when we've used retreat to capture stations, so cant say if its cf or top influence
CF makes more sense but making sense doesnt mean anything when it comes to the BGS :D

If the faction being retreated is the controlling faction then the system and assets go to the highest influence. If it's not the controlling faction being retreated, assets go to the ruler. Not that rare and a good tool in the tool belt.

Back in 2.3 when we were retreated out of one of our Systems the one with the current highest % got all the spoils. We were controlling MF up to that point, so I can't really say if it will be the same in your case, but I'd wager it will.

*UPDATE*
That faction retreated from the system today and the asset went to the CF who are on 16% as opposed to my MF who are on 61% so there you have it.
Next step is to get the CF to retreat and take both assets :) Black Market, here I come [where is it]

Interesting and thanks for sharing!

Fascinating information.

I have typically been retreating the controlling faction, so the next most important is the highest influence apparently.
