Newcomer / Intro Returning player questions (VR and team mechanics)

Hi guys, I played a bunch in 2021 but then stopped for a while. I've come back to the post 3.8 world and have a few weird bugs or "features" that are really getting me down. Hopefully you guys can help.

1) Me and a few friends used to fly around in a wing, letting the slowest jumper plot the route and all taking their target using the 'wingman target' button. Me and my main play buddy are in fact halfway to Colonia, and have a 30ly differnce in jump range, so he has to set the route, or else we're flying very different routes. When we last played, I was able to take his next system from him, but now I am unable to do that anymore. The button works fine for targets in system. This really sucks because Wingman Nav-lock is just hot, unusable garbage. Have they deprecated the use of 'take wingman target' to take the next system in route? Is there any other way to copy my friend's route? Having to wait for him to jump then go to the galaxy map to get my next stop is really harshing my buzz.

2) I play exclusively in VR and since last I played, I can no longer translate my head in space. Rotation works fine, but if I get up and walk across the room, my viewpoint in-game stays stuck on my body. It used to let me "walk" around the cabin. It's not the headset tracking either, I checked that. Is there any way to stop the whole viewpoint unnaturally moving with my head? It's unnerving and immersion-breaking is also really harshing my buzz. - EDIT: Fixed this. I twas a WMR problem I was in 3DoF not 6.

CMDRS please help me! These two things are making my return to ED significantly less fun than I had hoped.

I encountered the same problems with nav-lock in Odyssey. However, it does work (mostly) if I stay far behind my wingmate so that I do not pass his hyperspace wake until my ship has copied the jump destination and the charging sequence is running (or has completed). This seems to apply for jumps initiated from supercruise as well as from normal space.
Can you try it out? Would be interesting to know if this workaround works for other players as well.

I don't usually copy a wingmate's jump destination so I'll try it out to see if it works for me. I do routinely copy current targeted ship or local destination from my wingmate and that seems to work ok.
