Returning to Elite After a Long Absence

Hi Everyone.

I have been away from Elite for months through work and have just come back tonight, hooray!
I am out in the black getting to know my Condi again where I left it. I seem to recall that when I jump into a system to explore there was an interface used which I slowly moved round in to map the system, there were crackles etc which increased as you scanned closer to a body(s). I hope this makes sense?
Question is, how do I get this up, and is it using an advanced scanner?
Any help advice would be appreciated.
I would add that at some point I was also using a steam account as well for starting afresh. My Condi is fitted with just a d scanner.

It's the FSS Scanner, Full Spectrum System Scanner, all ships have it by default. I don't know what your bindings are, but you can find it (somewhere) in the bindings menu.

Many thanks, just played with it(!), right down at the bottom of the bindings, will play some more with it but it is starting to come back
