Rift on order. Set my expectations for me...

No glasses so shouldn't have any issues pulling the HMD on and off.

I have DCS but I've not played it in a long time as Elite has been my main PC game. Will defo try it in the rift when I get it as a few people have mentioned how awesome it looks.

I am in LOVe with my CV1 and Elite! A marriage made in Heaven!
Childhood dream come true - owning my personal spaceship! Ist insanely awesome! The CV1 fits perfect on my face I have no opening next to the nose or anything lik eit and absolutely NO Godray issues in Elite!

I do have them in opening Screens where all is black and some White or super bright logos... Like Henry title Screen or cccp(White logo Screens) but as soon as I am ingame in Elite
no godrays whatsoever and I can read all the test just perfect withouit an issue!

Its great to read posts like this, really makes the waiting harder :)

Its also clear that a lot of the issues of the current HMDs are very much a personal perception thing. Some things are noticed by some more than others and that's always going to be the case I guess. From all the reading of write ups and reviews I've done I think this is pretty much as good as is possible with current tech.

Just keep your fingers crossed it doesn't break after less than a week as Oculus support is terrible. I've had mine just less than a week and the rear tracking LED's have stopped working. Oculus support are quick to respond until the bit where it becomes obvious that your unit needs to be replaced. Then they fob you off with something along the lines that they need to look into your problem and you won't hear from them again for weeks.

Nice bit of kit when it works though.

Not sure what it's like now, back when I used the DK2 the response was quick. I had an HDMI issue, they replied the next day, sent me a new unit out to the Middle East, I managed to fix my old DK2 whilst waiting for the new one to turn up. Top support, I couldn't fault them for the service. I was expecting them to ask for the old unit before they would consider sending out another one.

Trust me it's not like that now. I think the big problem is that they still have a shortage of units, so they're trying to stall having to replace and swap them out. Like I say, they're fast enough with the first responses until it becomes obvious that your unit is faulty, at which point you effectively get put on hold with a "Please give me some time to look into it." type reply, with no idea of the time frame or what it is they're looking into. If the unit is obviously broken, what is there to look into? Surely the next step should have been, yes it appears your unit is faulty, we'll need to arrange to send it back for a replacement.

It's not just Oculus either, as a D-pad on one of my mates Vive controllers has gone and so far he's been waiting over 2 weeks for a returns label. Poor show all round really, especially given the cost of these things and the wait that most people have had to endure to get their hands on them.

I does sound like both Oculus and HTC are stalling on replacements while stock is low, hopefully this will improve once pre-orders are fulfilled and stock levels stabilize..

Well that was a nice surprise! Tuesday morning I got the order processing email and yesterday morning the order has shipped email, all set for delivery tomorrow. Could not be more excited, 43 going on 12 here I can tell you, bit sad I know but cant wait :)

Of course the one minor detail is I've waiting to find a decent deal on a GTX 1070 and now this has shipped at least a month early I've had to make a hasty purchase. One Gigabyte GTX 1070 arriving tomorrow it is then! I really didn't want to pay the current inflated prices but there's no way I'm gonna leave a brand new Rift lying around doing nothing!

They can't be too short on units.

I placed an order for the cv1 a little impulsively this monday morning and they did say expected delivery in August. But it is on the ups truck for delivery today.

Yes it definitely looks like they've finally caught up on the backlog. Hopefully that's good news for the people who need replacements as well!

**Sat here patiently waiting for DPD with my 1070 and UPS with my Rift, I don't think I'm gonna get through a lot of work today :) **
