Road to Anti-Sol

So when i went for my first run out in exploration, i thought it would be a nifty idea on to go to the complete polar opposite end of the galaxy and visit a system i coined the name of "Anti-Sol", basically if you were to mirror where Sol is in a vertical plane from Sagittarius A and go to that system that resulted. It was surprising easy to actually determine which system this would be thanks to the Relative co-ordinate system in place on the Galaxy map. Just take double the relative co-ordinate Sagittarius A is from sol and boom, you got yourselves the co-ordinates of Anti-Sol. I've already found the nearest system to these co-ordinates to be the system of Drooteou PW-I A36-4. In reality a run to this system is literally double that of a Sagittarius A run. Obviously my first run in exploration was just a few months ago and i went about 1k LY from inhabited space, found life, and said whelp I'm done time to go back to trading. But now i think is the time with the community goal to get a station in a nebula to finally try and make the run.

Chances are that someone else may have already thought of this idea and has already gone out to this system ahead of me. But its not about the financial gains doing this run is about (Partially though, it is), its about going out there and looking for what the galaxy has to offer. I'll try and update this post the further I get away from inhabited space. I'll also be running a little video series in the style of Commander Blind Pew on my Youtube channel if you wanted to see the sights I've found so far.

Current System: Inhabitted Space
Status: Waiting on Horizons
Destination: Thaileia OD-Z D1-110 [284.22 LY from Current]
Distance to Anti-Sol: 47,837.41 LY

Current Video: [Day 1 {Pre-Horizons}] - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIYSQOFOIIQ

Notice: The run will be updating to an Exploration Python, including weapons, sheilds, cargo, and SRV systems. As a result i will be waiting on Horizons to land and then i will restart the journey.

I think its already been done. Check out the Galactic Mapping thread... the Galactic Aphelion map has a location marked on it called Derthek's Folly. Claimed to be the very system you're looking for.

There's an expedition planned for January, a journey across the galaxy that will pass through the Folly at some point. If you're interested I'll be posting maps and details about it tomorrow.

Good luck on your own journey out there :)

So yea i thought it would be the case, oh well, may as well find a nearby system and plaster my name on it. But hey good to see great minds think alike then.

Current System: Drojaea PT-L B55-2 [4,012.91 LY from Sol]
Status: Exploring

Distance to Anti-Sol: 47,837.41 LY

Notice: This run is being done in a pure fit exploration ASP, that means no shields, guns, or anything short of silent running to escape. As a result the run will be done in Solo/Private Group modes due to the fact i do not want to end the series prematurely because of Ganker's roaming around in high value areas like Sagittarius A which will be visited on the way. The only way the series can possible end prematurely is if i mess up and blow my canopy screen out or run out of AFM 'ammunition'.

Well done Cmdr...true explorer spirit! Good luck and I look forward to seeing what Anti-Sol looks like.

edit...or whatever goal you decide for your new expedition

I might be up for that! Especially if I haven't closed the gap between Pioneer and Elite before then.

Just a quick update on the journey:

Ive decided to return to the core systems in preparation for Horizons, and im gonna up the ante a little: Head out to Anti-Sol, and Land on Anti-Earth.

For the purpose of this journey the ASP explorer is not capable of carrying everything i want, so i will be upgrading to a Python load out ive been building on the Horizons beta server. Once the Horizons update goes live i will restart the series.

Best of luck, fellow explorers.

If it really is an anti-earth (that is, an ELW) then you won't be able to land on it in Horizons...only airless worlds can be landed on. Of course if the third rocky planet in from the star of anti-sol is airless, then yes, you could land there.

I am not the first CMDR to this system: Its a red dwarf star with 7 (Presumably Airless) Rocky worlds. And that's the point of exploration isn't it? To go out and find new things. If its not landfall able in the first iteration of horizons ill just have to make another trip out there when an iteration comes out that lets you land on it.
