Roadmap after release

It would be great if FD would publish a rough roadmap of what features will be implemented and in what order. With the express disclaimer of "subject to change" of course!
The development model for ED means that the first release won't be the final game and development will continue, but that is still a rather uncommon thing in game development. I think many newcomers to ED will face a lot of bugs and many will be disappointed with certain things. Not saying you can't get a solid 20 hours of fun gameplay out of the game but ED has the promise of being so much more.
An official roadmap would go a very long way to keep things calm on release. There will be bugs, there will be tears, there will be yelling, but if we could point to a roadmap of planned features a lot of tension will be avoidable.
We know that wings are coming, that they are looking into external view, but we don't know about things like more complex mission types for single player or stuff like multiplayer missions (cooperative or PVP). There are tons of things in the DDF that might or might be implemented or will now be adjusted. So it would really be a great for a big "update" on the development plan.

Put simply, I'd love for FD to release a new roadmap for after release or a "development plan" and say "this will change, we want to do this and that, this is rather a placeholder".
Yes they might change the plan but if they put a disclaimer on it and communicate there won't be nothing. They did not really communicate their plans for example regarding offline mode until after the decision was made. The problem was that they made plans and communicated these plans a long time ago, but plans change. So communicating the changed plan in an updated roadmap instead of just giving the player the final results (here are the patch notes of what's implemented) would go a long way.
There is this idea that Frontier Development communicates with their backers. It's really not my experience. I have never gotten any clear answer about the things I actually care about. Sure they answer questions here and there but they act cagey around the things that are actually significant.
I think it's easy for a dev team to slip into a "hunker down" mode and view their players as a sort of wild animals roaming outside their doors (which frankly isn't an inaccurate description) but communicating clearly means communicating actual info.
All the newsletters merely contain 99% fluff. We've asked for more regular newsletters and they have given regular newsletters, only now there is no info in them except short term announcements and recapturing of community screenshots / videos. Or books. Or calls to buy the game haha.

They're not going to commit to anything concrete. Whenever they do they get punished for it on the forums. Michael Brook did say that wings (player grouping) will come early next year.

So ED is out and it's a good framework for game, once we have more bedded out features in the future it will move from good to masterpiece, like Frontiers . Also well done for meeting their deadline, without massive server issues.
But I find it funny that there is forum section asking for ideas for new features when there is so much still do in respect to the kick starters and more importantly the design discussion, although nobody expected all of those features to make it.
It would be great if frontier could now set out their road map for adding all the features that were partially implemented, just to remind you all this was a list of where we are at.

Yes i would also love to see a road-map of the features we can expect in future i say expect as i am sure FD might have dropped some of them, again another good reason for the road map so we all now what is coming and when to expect it.
Yeah for me it's about expectations. If they drop something I don't mind. I just don't like surprises!
We will never see a road map. F D will not create feature expectations and artificial deadlines. Expect nothing.
We don't need deadlines, just a rough plan of what they'll do in the coming months and the first expansion.
2 things they mentioned are:
1. Wings multiplayer features = early 2015
2. Thargoids = soon
Right, ED is a great game that must be fleshed out with more sand in the sandbox. It'll be a real masterpiece with more features, content and the Planetary Expansion.

Yup, just some kind of idea as to what is being developed, whether it's on the front burner or back burner.
