Robot Staff!

How about the option to buy robotic vendors and other staff? [yesnod]

This would resolve several things (vendors quiting in sandbox parks, etc) but add an interesting difference in gameplay: no more salary and happiness issues, now you have maintenence costs and mechanics (which can also be robotic) should do regular checks and come fix when there's a breakdown (like a ride). Entertainers would be substantially the same, but with robot feet (or whatever) showing beneath the costumes. Great for sci-fi parks, of course.

Since (aside from the artwork) the differences would primarily be removing behaviors from the existing staff setup, this would be low-to-moderately difficult for the dev's to implement.

How about the devs just give us an option to have all staff come pretrained and always happy? Thats how sandbox should be anyway

I dont think I would like that, you just said you dont want staff to quit in sandbox, but now your asking for staff to be able to breakdown?? That doesnt sound like a good idea IMO

Yeah because why not live in the year 2077 and dress up a bunch of Mr. Handy robots in the red uniform to do our bidding? ;)

Granting that, they don't appear to be. Robots would give them an excuse, and we'd get robot staff. [yesnod]

As an option, yeah, I think it would be -- I remember in RCT3P that the shops would sometimes breakdown, which (annoying as it can be) makes sense.

i'd like this maybe we could also get auto mats and vending machines? [big grin]
Although I agree with you, robot staff takes something already existing in the game (staff) and makes minimal changes to give us something new (robot skins, disable some staff things like salary and taking breaks, add some things from rides like maintenance costs and breakdowns). Vending machines would require new animations to be created for guests interacting with them -- that's harder. (Doable, but harder, which costs Frontier more money to pay devs to do it.)

I dont remember that, we now have broken toilets in the new update, but I think having fire hazards would be better than a shop breaking down. Robot vendors would require a lot of animations, I mean would they be faceless?

. . . Robot vendors would require a lot of animations, I mean would they be faceless?
I'd say they'd use the same animations as the vendors (including the Oh boy, customer!, but not the wristwatch checking). No expressions, but again that's removing stuff, not adding stuff.

I'm trying to think of this in easiest/fastest/least resource-intensive to implement terms. [wacky]

I have to say that I am with Breezer in this case. I don't think that robot vendors would help in sandmode. I personally, would like dev-time spend to other things. Maybe robot mechanics could be introduced at a later time or in a DLC (which I personally don't see a use in).[big grin]
