Rocks counting as terrain. Intended?

Is this an intended change? It has had huge negative effects on many peoples zoos. Entire habitats have to be remade.

I for one am not interested in this change at all. Rocks were a grear way to make natural barriers

With the elaborate rock structures I've built, I shudder to think what this will do.

BUT the question is does it only count the rock that intersects the ground or ALL rock? If the former it might not be so bad. If the latter then egads I'm in trouble.

That really sucks. I have been using rocks to fill in blank areas in many of my exhibits. As well as using them for walls and to build shelters. I hope this get changed to be more reasonable or that we get scenery rocks to use. This is going to kill many zoos.

I don't mind this. It didn't really make sense to me that only the floor rocks were considered rocks. That'd be like if trees didn't count as climbable area.

A lot of them don't actually count as climbable areas. There are also trees that count and trees that don't count so you can build/decorate with both.

No this change makes less sense the more I think about it.

For example, what about if you build a natural enclosure using null barriers and rocks?

I need to see how much they count when I get home today but I feel, without at least offering a version of rocks that DON'T count, this is a bad change.

Or maybe thats what they did? Maybe only some rocks count towards the terrain? Again I need to wait until I get home.

Hi everyone, we're completely in agreement regarding the rocks counting to terrain requirements and we are currently working to change that back to how it was before. It will be fixed very soon, so thanks for your patience!

I actually thought the rocks were a good move! I don't like the rock texture, so I already used rocks. The rock texture is lack-luster & flat, while you could use rocks to change the color & feel of your habitat! It would also be nice to have grass/bush maybe count, it doesn't make sense for lions to be in a green-grass environment! Sad to see this change go so quickly, honestly~

Perhaps this could be one of those future sandbox options mentioned in the 1.0.2 announcement thread.

It just needs to be optional like barriers counting as habitat or not. I agree the rock paint os trash. But its not worth losing scenery rocks

i'm happy it's going.

it's much nicer, in my opinion, to make a rock shelter for animals rather than stick a concrete building in there. I want a natural looking habitat, not one with giant stables.

And yet...with this change,. i'd have to go sticking those ugly concrete shelters into my pens because my animals would be unhappy with the amount of rocks. I'd like the freedom to make what shetler i want in my exhibit, and not be forced to only use man-made looking ones.

it's great you like the change, but what's stopping you from doing it anyways if it was reverted? Just keep doing it that way. Doesn't seem to affect your playstyle at all, but it affects lots of other peoples', so i'm glad it's being changed back so that everyone can play how they want

I just cover the rocky paint with actual rocks. :)
