Newcomer / Intro Route unavailable - really?

Dear Folks,

I am planning a short trip to a system which is about 170ly away from my current position. However, the navigation function says "route unavailable". Is it really (physically) impossible to reach this destination with my T6? Or does the route plotting function just don't work properly?

Thanks

The route planner has a range limit, I believe of 100 LY... this doesn't mean your ship can't skip and hop its way there. :) try doing it in two stages.

Just to add to this, there is sometimes a delay while the galaxy map builds the "spider web" blue lines. If you're under 100 LY, give it a few and try again.

Just tried a bit with the galaxy map. I find it quite hard to find out what is "half way" in this 3D plot. Very confusing...

Hi there! I did too, until I noticed that the Galaxy map has coordinates (most noticeable if you are near Sol which is 0:0:0).

The coordinates are format X:Z:Y. I am not at home (being at the office) so I can't just "log on" to check, but if I recall the coordinates are oriented relative to Sol as follows:

  • X value going "north" for positive numbers and "south" for negative (with galaxy core to your "left").
  • Y value going coreward for negative and outward for positive.
  • Z value going "up" or "down" relative to the galactic plane through Sol.

So, using the above info, I planned a trip from Epsilon Indi (near Sol...something like 0:-5:0) to Delta Phoenicis (near Achenar, something like 54:-135:4), a distance of about 130 ly. I found a "halfway" point in system Kappa Reticuli (something like 54:-54:2). Again the coordinates are very rough estimates not being at home right now. So I used route planner to go from EI to KR, then dropped out of SC in KR to allow the galaxy map to plot my route from KR to DP. It just takes a bit of playing around.

I hope this helps!

Give me the name of the system your at and where you want to go ill tell u the system you need to get to to make two jumps
